Surrender Cafe — Restaurant in Woodbridge Township

So when Surrender first opened, i did not like their food. Then a friend told me to give them another try, so I did. Food was much better. However, their customer service was horrible!! I was there on Tues. May 25th, 2021. I had an important meeting and figured I'd give them another try. Well, as soon as we got there, (i mean we had not literally even sat down and got comfortable) we were ask if we were ready to order. We said we needed a few mins. They waitress must of came back like 4 times within a few mins, like she was in a rush to take our order. When we finally order and the food came out, we had not finished eating and some of our food was taken from the table!! So we said something and the waitress response was oh, I thought you finished. How about you ask! Anyway, we felt rushed and asked for the bill. Apparently, they closed at 7:30pm and it was 7:15pm, so we paid the bill and as we were getting up to leave, a party of 4 walks in at 7:28pm and they were seated and told that it was ok for them to stay, even though they were closing in 2 mins. I was furious, u rushed us out, u took our food b4 we were even finished but it's ok to seat 4 ppl 2 mins b4. closing!! Unacceptable. I will not be spending my hard earned money at a place where i am not wanted or rushed. They could of easily said, we can seat you but we close in an hour and a half. We would of least had a choice to go elsewhere. But then why seat 4 ppl?? Things that make you go Humm!! I tried to support my local business and also support my ppl but that doesn't seem to be working out at...

We went to this restaurant and since we are not from the area and wanted some good Puertorican food and I was very disappointed. The food wasn’t that good. The mofongo I ordered was dry and very salty, the shrimp tasted very spicy. The churrasco was bland. We were a party of 6 paying two separate bills, we got charged 15% gratuity for the two parties with 3 people on each one. The policy I read on their website as we were browsing to check their menu before heading to that restaurant, it said gratuity will be included for a party of 5 or more. We were a party of 3 and they still added 15% gratuity. I always give good tips that was not my problem. Maybe they thought we were trying to avoid tipping and probably that was the reason why they added gratuity on each our bills. They got over on us that’s fine. But I will never visit this place again. What we ordered was wrong in the bill as well when I mentioned from the beginning it was going to be separate bills. I didn’t make a fuss. We didn’t say anything but we will never be back here again when we go back to the area. The prices on the bill were not reasonable for what we ordered. Outside doesn’t look like much tbh, but the Magic happens inside, Came in found a nice clean restaurant, has older diner type of style but that’s the style I like, some nice tropical scenery and artwork. Very friendly service, I had the pleasure of being served by Alejandra, I ordered the 360 platter for a starter was definitely worth it the food arrived promptly and very nice and Hot and tasted excellent, The Empanadas, The Alcapurrias all of it was excellent also the sorrullitos were a nice pleasant surprise very fresh and satisfying. That in itself was a meal, but I saved some room for my plate which was nice Tripleta sandwich (Alejandra recommended I was having some interest between this and the Milanesa sandwich)it was very large also well served with a thousand island for your order of fries on the side that had a hint of garlic which really kicks it up a notch. To drink I had a Guanabana Juice very nice refreshing and not too sweet. I also had a Kola champagne to finish it off. Really enjoyed my first experience here will definitely be coming back to try more. Recommend it for a great meal anytime not too heavy on the pocket.
