Had a bad experience with the service at this restaurant. I placed my order at 5pm in the evening and was expecting my food in 20-40 minutes as that’s what the uber eats app had estimated; however, I didn’t received my food until 8pm on Friday. I called the restaurant and they told me that the food was on its way this was around 6:30pm now I live about 10 minutes from the restaurant so I expected my food to be at my house at around 7pm the latest. When the food didn’t arrived I called again at 7:30pm to cancel my order and they told me I couldn’t cancel as my food had been delivered. I told the girl on the phone I had not received any order and then she went on to insist that the food had been delivered. I asked her to please double check after being on hold for 15 minutes she told me the food was on its way. I would’ve preferred for them to cancel my order as the food was cold and the service was poor. I understand that the times presented on the app are estimated times; however, I don’t appreciate being lied to by the restaurant staff and being told that “my found was on its way and will arrive in 5 minutes” twice. Will definitely not be a customer anymore.

so I recently wrote a review about this place based on 2-3 bad experiences which i happily take back because every restaurant has bad days & regardless of those bad days i still love going there , the staff is very friendly when i come in and i have never been treated wrong from all the times ive been there and when i recently went there I was served AMAZING food which was the “Seafood Chaufa”. The green sauce with it is just amazing and they made my food veryyyy good and tasteful this time and everything was also cooked very good as well as they also reassured me that in the future the food will also be just as amazing and I believe them. Honestly I cant tell you about the other food because i literally only get the seafood chaufa from them but when i do its sooooo good so i recommend to anyone looking to eat this specific dish. I also cant speak for anyone else but when i go in im treated good and fair and polite. I will continue to be a loyal customer to them as they are a loyal food establishment to me. This picture says it all. Hope this helped anyone!

For $18 I expect a good size portion. When my mom called the restaurant she didn’t even get a I’m sorry we will do better the next time” nope nothing. Regardless if you eat at the restaurant or order take out the food portions should be the same as well as the service for both ways should be the same too. Unfortunately, we will not be ordering food from Waka Tay any longer. When you start overpricing food but reducing the size portion it’s time to find another restaurant that what you pay for matches the portion of food.

so I recently wrote a review about this place based on 2-3 bad experiences which i happily take back because every restaurant has bad days & regardless of those bad days i still love going there , the staff is very friendly when i come in and i have never been treated wrong from all the times ive been there and when i recently went there I was served AMAZING food which was the “Seafood Chaufa”. As a Peruvian person I am so disappointed with this restaurant for various reasons but I will just mention 2. My family went out for breakfast and decided to come to this Peruvian restaurant. On the menu the breakfast was listed at a certain price and we made 3 orders of the same plate. After we receive the check we were charged $2 extra for each plate. We asked the waiter why we were being charged more and her answer was "oh the price on the menu is wrong, we always have issues with that". So my question is, if you always have issues with it, why is the price on the menu never changed? That means the price on the menu doesn't matter if you are going to end up charging me whatever you want. My mom went another time for lunch and ordered a fish plate. The fish, or whatever they fried the fish with, was going bad and clearly tasted old. My mom mentioned it to the waitress who then called the "owner". A woman comes out from the back and when my mom explains the situation she follows up with "so what do you want to do? Are you going to order something else?" My mom said she would think about it, but after the nasty taste of old fish in her mouth she didn't want to order anything else, and asked for the check. The owner comes back out and tells my mom "next time you order something that you aren't going to like, don't eat too much of the plate" my mom took 2 bites of the disgusting plate and put it to the side! She acted like my mom left one spoonful of food left on the plate. And she also mentions that the chef tasted the fish and thought it was perfectly fine. This business should be reported to the better business bureau for trying to feed your customers old fish and then feeling offended after they tell you the fish is old! NEVER EVER GOING BACK THERE AND YOU...

As someone who used to work here I am highly disappointed with my experience today. The food was mid/decent, used to be much better. Service was incredibly slow when the restaurant only had 1-2 other customers. While ordering a plate we explained to her what was wanted and she looked at us like we were dumb and still gave us the wrong order. We didn’t complain because no matter how in depth we went with such a simple order of chicken she still failed to bring us what we asked for and said she was confused.

I called the store to let them know I was overcharged. Apparently, they add an automatic gratuity once there are 3 people at a table. She tried to convince me that that was always how they charged and that is incorrect and ILLEGAL. I asked to speak to the manager and every time she made it a point to tell me she was the owners wife and that she doesn’t want to argue with me, I was not arguing?? And refused to let me speak to the manager. Then told me to call back in approximately 2 weeks to speak to the other co-owner.

Wife or not, customer service should be better and bigger than her ego. Make sure you read your receipts for hidden fees. I do not mind tipping but I am not adding tip on top of automatic gratuity that was not notified to us.. especially when there wasn’t even enough adults at the table. Scam scam scam.

As a recommendation to the owner(s) - stop putting friends and family to run the business the language barrier clearly is a problem for English speaking customers and if someone is on the floor they should be able to accommodate the Spanish and English speaking customers. That way there are no errors in food or money transactions. And 2nd, they always tend to have a power trip because of the connection...

I've been here before years ago, we used to order take out regularly from here, always loved the food. Dined in a few times a well back around 2018. The portions for take out got really small at one point so we stopped ordering.

Always missed it. Now I that I'm living in the Woodbridge area I decided to go back for a dine in experience again, and it was wonderful, they did change the decor a bit, for the better might I add, and it still felt authentic. The decor is soothing, feels very cozy, we just sat down anywhere we pleased as this is a casual dining type establishment. We were helped right away, server was very sweet even though she did not speak very much English it really wasn't an issue as we already knew what we wanted. We ordered, waited maybe 10 or 12 minutes and our food came to our table, the server gave us all the sauces we needed, everything was hot and delicious just as I remembered it! Very great flavor! We had Lomo saltada.

This place has been consistent over the years. I noticed it's a bit pricier than it used to be but that makes sense given how the cost of even has risen exponentially over the last few years. Still very fair price for what you receive. Cozy place, nice Spanish music playing in the background, very nice...
