I’d like to preface this review with a few points: I probably don’t fit the demographic this restaurant serves. They generally serve upper-middle class gringos and I am Mexican. I suspect that plays a part in the service they provided me. I have traveled all over Mexico, central and South America. Those travels have allowed me to experience a different level of customers service, specifically in the food and hospitality segments. Anyone that has traveled outside the US knows the customer service here in the US is zero compared to other countries. I’ve worked in the food industry and I always provided excellent service regardless of the person, or what they purchased. My review is based on the last three visits to La Parilla, not only today’s visit. My 3 last visits have been consistent bad, mediocre at best. Ok, let’s move on… I came in on Monday, Sept. 1, 2025, around 2:15pm. I was in the mood for seafood and decided to give this location a third chance because my favorite restaurant (Freakin Incan) was closed. I waked in and sat at the bar. First impression was the staff, and definitely the person at the bar, did not want to be there. I waited a couple of minutes until she came came over and asked what I wanted to drink. I ordered a beer and asked for a menu. When I was handed the menu I jokingly pointed out to the young girl that her name tag was upside down. I did that to break the ice, not that it’s my job: since I’m paying for a service, I’d expect the staff to be the ones to make the experience pleasant. Total fail! The young lady, somewhat annoyed, without saying a word, turned around and went about her business (a thank you would have been nice!). I ordered the Del Mar burrito. The flavor is ok. But $17 for a burrito slightly bigger than a Taco Bell bean & cheese burrito is pushing it. Flavor ok, value not ok. The food is good, but not that good. I ate as fast as I could because I did not want to be there. I finished my burrito and drank ny beer. I asked for the bill and a water to go. I got the bill, but not the water. 🤦🏻♂️ I asked the young lady for the water to go. She turned around and left. I waited a bit and as I was about to just leave, she came back with the water. Needless to say I will, not only NOT come to this location, but will stop giving my business to La Parrilla. Over the past 20 years I’ve been a pretty consistent patron and have actually made friends at some of the locations. But something has significantly changed. I hope the company takes a few steps back to appreciate what made them successful to begin with, and return to some of the business model that allowed...
Read moreHope your Fathers Day went better than ours or “How to make dad angry on Father’s Day! “ Arrived at La Parrilla at 12:15pm and we asked to be seated outside. At that time there was one other family outside. Even with several empty tables covered with umbrellas, they put two tables together for our party of 7 directly in the sun with no umbrella. We asked to move to a different spot and we moved two tables together ourselves that had an umbrella for shade. No problem. And we waited. A young man came out with chips and salsa pretty quickly. And we waited. And waited and waited and waited. We asked the girl who was waiting on the table behind us if she was our waitress. She said no and walked off. No explanation. And we waited some more. Finally, the young girl who seated us came out and even though she wasn’t supposed to wait on us , she did. She took our drink order and brought them to us. Still no one took our order. The young girl peeked out the door to check on us and we told her no one had come to take our order. She said she would go get something to write on and be right back. Again, we questioned the other waitress who was taking care of the other table and she walked away. Another group was seated and that waitress started taking care of them - completely ignoring us. 40 minutes AFTER we were seated and the nice young girl had brought us our drinks and taken our order, a manager( 🙄) came out and asked us if we had been taken care of. If THIS IS HOW YOU WOULD LIKE YOUR HUSBAND OR FATHER TO BE TREATED ON Father’s Day then head on over to La Parrilla. When we expressed our disappointment at the way we were treated to the manager he said “Sorry”. Yes, SORRY is the correct word for this restaurant and we will NEVER GO...
Read morenovember 2018: As always, delicious. My Dad had chicken street tacos, which he enjoyed. I had steak fajitas, which was delicious. The steak is nice and tender, and not grisly, which is important for me because I hate getting grisly steak at mexican restaurants. My brother had a beef burrito with queso blanco on top, which he loved. Also had a small coup of caldo de pollo, which is so delicious there. Everything is always enjoyable here.
initial review:
Haven't been to this location for a few years now, went back with my family this time. It was pretty busy when we went. My Dad and I always share a pitcher of margaritas, and of course my mom always sneaks a few sips from us. I have to say, we all agreed it was very, very weak. It barely tasted of tequila, instead tasted of just straight stawberry flavoring. We told the server and he brought the manager over, which we didn't necessarily need, and the manager made us a new pitcher. Definitely was much better and we were happy with that. Food was great as always. It is definitely the coolest decorated location. The one off Dallas highway is more modern, this one is more "fiesta" styled. Overall it was good, and...
