New Lucky China has been a mainstay for our family for many years. It used to be beside the Kroger across Shallowford Road, but moved several years ago to its current location. The seating is now much less crowded then before and the atmosphere much more modern. The ownership/management did change, but the menu stayed relatively consistent.
The food is the typical Americanized Chinese food and they do have a decent (cheaper) lunch menu with the usual favorites.
In the last couple of years they have also expanded their menu to include various sushi items; I can neither confirm nor deny the quality of the sushi as I have never had it (I absolutely hate the smell and taste of noori).
There are a mixture of quite a number of booths (up to about 6 people per squeezed in but 4 comfortably) plus a number of center tables as well.
It has always been clean when we were there, and the kitchen noises are muffled behind a dining area wall (unless you sit by one of the 2 kitchen entryways).
With the management/ownership change, the wait staff changed as well. Much less friendly, but still quite functional and businesslike. Dont expect to chit chat with them.
My favorite dinner meal is the Subgum Tofo Bowl that also includes beef, shrimp, chicken and pork with the vegetables. It's good for two meals for me with the compliment of rice.
I'm not a fan of chicken wings with the dine-in lunches, but they have been known to substitute another egg roll for the wing if asked to do so.
Their takeout is relatively fast and is normally at the front desk if we get there in the time they tell us...
Read moreI recently moved to the area from Alpharetta and was looking for a place on par with the Chin Chin there off Windward Parkway. Specifically, I was looking for a place that served a comparable Mongolian Beef which is how I judge a Chinese restaurant. They nailed it here when I recently tried their lunch menu for takeout. The Sweet & Sour Pork was standard fanfare as it is in most places like S&S Chicken. But the portion was huge, way bigger than the Mongolian Beef.
I ordered the two lunch dishes for takeout and the fried rice servings were very generous as well. Some Chinese places I've been to charge extra for fried rice, but it's included here in the dish. I will be returning for lunch a few days a week and try more lunch specials. The only thing about takeout is that they do not include the included soup with the lunch special for some reason but you can order soup separately for takeout.
That makes no sense and that's the only reason I am giving it four stars instead of five. If you live or work nearby and need a delicious lunch takeout that has generous proportions and good quality food for the price, this is the place to go. I figure both take out containers weighed about 3 lbs. It was a LOT of food, and GOOD food, for $16. A friend of mine who lives in the area had been going to this place for years, even when they were in another location in the nearby Kroger shopping center. Apparently under new ownership/management their quality has gone even higher. Very recommended if you can get over the no-soup-for-you with a lunch special...
Read moreThis place is a gem among Asian eateries in the Cobb County area! Delicious food and quick and accurate servers make this a great place for lunch. Speaking of lunch, what a bargain! For lunch you get a cup of soup and fried won tons as an app, your entree of choice, fried rice and an egg roll for a very reasonable price (I get the Mongolian Chicken, $8.95 for the whole thing!). The atmosphere is fine, got a couple of TVs and an open dining room. Perfect to cater families and larger groups. Not a ton of frills but they do have a robot that can bring out your meal! Lol Again, DELICIOUS food and great price. Only thing to ding them on is they're closed on Wednesdays (yes, Wednesday.) but otherwise a fine place to try, I bet it won't be the last! UPDATE:: Just went again It's still my favorite little gem of a Chinese restaurant today! This time I had the garlic chicken and the hot tea with some hot and sour soup and I couldn't have been more satisfied. As always the staff made me feel warm and invited and attended to while I enjoyed the fruitful plate presented before me. I highly recommend it if you're in the area definitely check them out they are now open 7...
