Pro's: (very few) -Timely and tasty -Friendly staff is always delightful -It has alot of signs? -hot fries?
Cons: (way too many) -While timely and tasty, this place hasn't found a source of wieners worth returning too.(ill only visit maybe every 2 months)
-Their meat sauce is amazing but often a bit watery which the buns pays the toll for and im pretty sure the staff knows that.
-Tasty meat sauce is subverted by what seems prepackaged wieners bought in bulk.
-The inside cleanliness matches the rest of the city. (not good)
-The General Store Outside doesnt compliment the Shiny Lunch box design that lasts for the first 20 ft of dinner tiles are then contrasted by:
--rag cups left on counters,
--wires hanging from the ceiling,
--Microsoft Word print menus that are neither easy to read or well placed,
--hand Drawn notes,
--Confusing Deal signs,
--A fridge with ceran wrapped desserts that should be found in a gas station bathroom. Not a business open for over 50 years.
(still on cons) My Father lived in this town so long he remembers when they didn't need plastic sleeves to pile the wieners on to their arms.
I wouldn't mind that today if every corner and crevice of the place wasn't filled with street dust, grime, and black ickor. (pictures to follow on next visit)
BUT,
ITS NOT,
So when i see that 60 year old lady accidentally place a wiener too far up that plastic sleeve I point it out.

Read moreThis place is a timeless classic. No frills, just an amazing local specialty: weiners. Cheap, quick, filling, and amazingly satisfying.
For those not familiar with weiners, they are kind of like a cony dog in a way. The bun is steamed so it is super soft and warm. The hot dog is of a local type that I find to be more flavorful and perhaps a tiny bit sweeter than most hot dogs. The meat sauce is very garlicky. It then has grilled onions and celery salt added. The flavors melt perfectly. They are smaller than a traditional hot dog, so don't think giant chili dog.
These are not light food and they are very garlic/onion/celery flavored. Not a great meal before a date, if you know what I mean. About 3 weiners will keep you good and full.
If you've never had one, they are absolutely worth the stop. And this place has the best ones in town....
Read moreWhile vacationing with my family from Wisconsin we stopped in to the highly recommended New York Lunch. We ordered the special (3 weiners, small fry and a drink) and a dynamite (hoagie with meat, sauce, pepper and onion). We tried to have the full "Rhode Islander" experience and ordered coffee milk as our beverage. The accents of the patrons and staff were strong and service was pleasant. We enjoyed our meal simply on the fact that it was more of an experience than a delicacy. Cash only service through us off a little at the end of our meal but for two adults and two kids our total came to about $13. Lots and lots vintage diner of memorabilia for decor. If you are driving though Woonsocket and are looking for a quick cheap lunch this is a great...
