Fresh Way Pizza — Restaurant in Worcester

Food is okay overall. Pizza isn't bad, sides are usually pretty meh. But I honestly order from here occasionally still because it's the only place near me that has such late delivery for pizza. BUT I am never giving them my business again. I ordered from them on a night they were closed (July 23rd) due to a festival or event going on in the canal district in front of their building. There was no indication that they were closed. Nothing on their website and they were taking orders. After waiting for my food for almost 2 hours, I called them just to hear thr voicemail that they are closed. Okay, whatever no big deal, I'll call for a refund. Next day I call, I was told that all orders were automatically refunded, so we decided to place the order again because we were craving it. A week goes by, no refund. I call the store again and I get a manager who claims only the owner can give refunds and they will pass on my info and make sure I get a refund. Another week goes by, no refund. This time my husband calls in, we get the same excuse. We wait again, no refund. We call back and they claim they issued the refund (per the owner) so we wait another week. No refund. Call again, ask for the owner himself. He's apparently never around and we were told he would call us back. Never got a call. We ended up having to do a charge back. Took over a month to get our $70 bucks back. Insane and extremely scummy. Always check they are open before you order. According to the manager this happened to a bunch of people the night they were closed....

AWFUL. I have ordered here several times before and it hasn’t really been a bad experience, just your normal local pizza place. I often order later at night because my boyfriend gets home from work late so I’ll call normally around 10-11 pm which doesn’t seem to be a problem since they are opened until 2:30 in the morning. I called at about 12 am today and I was told that they do not deliver to my address (which may I add is honestly a 2 minute drive from the store location and I would pick it up but recently had surgery on my back). I checked that they were the water street location and the man on the phone said it was, so there is no way he wouldn’t be able to deliver to my location. So I had mentioned that I live at a location they have delivered to before on several occasions then the man continued to say that they were closing now. I told him I was confused for the fact that they are opened until 2:30 am and it had even said this online and then the man went on to tell me that he “knows who I am” and that he would not be taking my order. So I found this very odd and decided to just take my business elsewhere. I felt the way he was speaking to me was very rude and he blatantly lied to me about not delivering to my location and that they were closing. I’ve never written any reviews to any place ever but this was just awful customer service and I definitely won’t be ordering from...

The pizza is very good but the experience with getting the food delivered has been inconsistent. They don't seem to call if something isn't available and will swap the unavailable item with something else hoping that you won't mind. And depending on the driver, one seems to be a lot friendlier than the other. The last one I had complained for having to leave his vehicle even when being tipped accordingly. He even lied that his vehicle was "towed" during that late night delivery-the 3 mins or so that he was away from it :) -and refused to follow the delivery instructions given which resulted in my canceling the next order. I can understand if there may be potential safety concerns for these drivers but they don't have to lie or behave unprofessionally to protect themselves. Just be honest and request if the customer is able to come down to meet you if you don't feel safe. For those reasons I think it would likely be a better experience going to the restaurant in person rather than ordering delivery which can be hit or miss.
