Bay State Bakery — Restaurant in Worcester

A friendly place with delicious food and a rather nice setting. During our visit on 7/10/21 we were the only ones eating at the restaurant, but the space has plenty of room for several families to enjoy a good meal. This restaurant specializes in Lebanese food. We had a hankering for Chawarmas and we were going to eat here no matter what because our next stop was the new Canal Street market. Our host offered samples of at least one item we wanted to try. She was very friendly and we had a good conversation with the cooks as well. Authentic desserts were omnipresent. Given the competent cooking and the accommodating reception I can't really imagine going wrong here. We’ve been frequenting BayState bakery for many years and the food has been good but in the last two years the quality of the meals has deteriorated. Today we ordered the chicken shawarma platter. The chicken was too dry. It was like eating cardboard. The pickles were unbearable salty. The hummus was runny and salty and tasted like tahini. The only things good on the plate were the rice, little salad and garlic sauce. We also ordered the loubeih. It was very oily and the green beans were overcooked. I travel alot and i have been living in westborough area for an year ... halal restaurants are bit scarce here ... a colleague of mine recommended me this place and i visited this place today ... i ordered a beef shawarma and ate it there .. i cant explain you how frickin good it was ... that tanginess and that mellow buttery beef with hint of garlic.
