Lumes Pancake House — Restaurant in Worth Township

I am a true return to eat customer. Sundays. There so busy. Don't mind it busy, but Today. I just forgot to tell my waitress To not add sugar on my pancakes. When I took time to take off powder sugar. My pancakes where not fully cooked. I was so embarrassed by waitress when she laughed at me for not telling about sugar. But later into conversation admit that cooks just add powder sugar. I decided to eat my meal to be enjoyed with my girlfriend. My experience was not met. When the waitress continued to not ask if I liked my meal. But did ask my girlfriend many times about her meal. Another embarrassing moment. My breakfast was hash potatoes, which were very toasted past good taste. The scramble Kayana. Let me explain. Since my waitress never asked. It was well cooked to medium. The feta cheese was never drained from water. So. To my believe the scramble tasted really watery and salty from feta juice. My experience. I was ridiculed by waitress. I was never asked if food was great or what was wrong. To the point that my inner adult went to hiding and was ashamed to talk. The waitress made a point to voice her opinion to the extent that I should of told her. When finished was never asked about food or why I never ate pancakes. Plus the slamming of the pancake plates on my plate made me voice my opinion. To the point that I was belittled and undermined on my consumption at Lumes... I did mention to cashier. I am sure it was maybe first time it happen. My experience was awful. My girlfriend was also embarrassed that had to agree with tantrum of our waitress. Just so we could...

My cousin and I came here for breakfast today. As I live in the area, I am actually surprised I had not been here before now...but hey, better late than never. I got there first and got our table situated, and when my cousin came it was time for us to eat!

I ordered the Aloha omelette with pancakes and a side of bacon, and my cousin had a Belgian waffle and some bacon. Let me say, at first glance, the place looks slightly dated but don't let that fool you...the food and service here is pretty damn good!

Tiffany was our server, and she got us started with juice and coffee. She had such a pleasant demeanor and was pretty attentive the entire time, and didn't even mind when my cousin ordered food to go.

I will say we were there about 10:30 in the morning and the place was hoppin'! But, you seem to get a table relatively quickly.

Anyhow, the omelette was great! Pineapple, jack cheese, potatoes, and ham. the hash browns were pretty crispy, and the pancakes were nice & soft just like I like them. Not to mention, my coffee was awesome!! My cousin said her food was good also!

Overall, I would definitely come back. Outside of the place being slightly dated as I mentioned before, this was a nice place for food, coffee, and conversation with my cousin. Also, the food is fairly priced.

Update: Lumes has unfortunately changed. The quality of the food is not the same, the portion sizes are smaller by up to 30%, and workers who are in contact with food don't wear masks.

I made an order for pickup and asked for the waffle fries to be in a separate container and have the lid left open so that the steam can escape and not make them soggy. Listen, crispy waffle fries are delicious, soggy waffle fries are dog food. So, this one trick saves them like magic. Easy peasy. Well I got there, the fries were in the boxes with the food, not separated, lids locked, and buried at the bottom of the bag under other orders with no chance to vent.

And the first thing they said was Do you want to leave a tip? Well do you want to respect a customer's simple special request so that the food they buy doesn't get ruined? Since you insist on using Styrofoam? That is when I'll pay extra because you put food in a bag.

Lumes has the best breakfast! Their Spinach & Feta Omelette is Stuffed with goodness and Hello? Waffle Fries!!! What could be better than that? They have big servings, good prices, the place is clean, the staff is friendly, it's been around forever. The Palos Heights parking lot is cramped and not my favorite but what can ya do? Keep calm and...
