Friendly service, cold beer, and delicious pretzels. But that’s where the goodness ended. We tried this place back in September and it was less than impressive, but as it’s close to home and advertised in the Dosh app, we thought we’d give it another shot. We chose to sit on the patio, assuming that they abided by Michigan law and since they served food on the patio they wouldn’t allow smoking out there. Shame on us for assuming. The moment we sat down, we noticed an abandoned ashtray with a cigarette still smoldering at the table next to us and ashtrays as each other table’s centerpiece. While we were there, we saw (and smelled) several people light up their cigarettes on the patio without any concern for our three, or the other group’s four or five, children also sitting on the patio. A couple of people did have the decency to walk behind the building for their smoke once they saw the children. But honestly, I felt like we were on an episode of Bar Rescue and Jon Taffer was going to walk out and start yelling at any moment. There was another group on the patio, some of them also smoking. One seemed to be an owner of the place. While I understand he was likely entertaining friends, paying customers are what keeps a business open. More than half of the items we wanted to order weren’t available, including their advertised special of Shrimp Tacos and simple hot dogs for the kids. Our beverages were slow to arrive, the server informed us this was due to the bar being backed up. The beer was perfectly chilled and delicious. Once I was done with my beer, I ordered a water which came with a sprinkle of some unknown substance all over the inside and outside of the cup. This was promptly replaced by our server. When the food arrived, much was left to be desired. My salad was made mostly of browning lettuce. My husband’s Mac & Cheese looked amazing but was served lukewarm at best. His meatloaf was salty and also served lukewarm. Our kids are picky and hardly ate so I can’t really judge their meals. The server did offer to replace the items we didn’t enjoy but with 3 kids approaching bed time, we didn’t have the time to wait. Overall, our visit was disappointing. I was hoping for more...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I wanted a burger and saw the photos online and said let’s try this place. Huge mistake.
Where do I begin?
Physical menu price says one thing, charged more when I get my receipt. Create your own burger was 7.99 but I was charged 8.99. It also had bacon at 1 dollar but was charged 2. I could have got a burger from the menu and just asked to have the items taken off and paid the same amount.
There was a “food tax” added. Didn’t see that posted anywhere nor was I told I’d be charged a tax to get food. Why serve food but charge people more to get it?
I was also charged for multiple fountain drinks but was never told there werent free refills nor was I told I’d be charged again. That’s very common practice to tell customers what’s extra and what’s not.
Lastly when we order our food our server asks what kind of fries we want. Reads off flavors and we each get seasoning. I got charged for the seasoning on the fries but the server made it seem like it wasn’t extra due to just asking us what we want and not saying it was more for the seasonings. 2 bucks for Cajun and garlic each? Seems excessive. Even the online menu says they’re the same price so what is it?
Overall weird experience spent 11 dollars more than what was intended. Wish I could get my money back since I feel...
Read moreWhen I came in here a few years ago, I was very disappointed. The wings were turning and it seemed quite expensive. But I came in and drank in here a few months ago with some friends and really enjoyed myself. So me and my dad decided to eat here a few days ago.
It was the Detroit Tigers' opening day, so we watched some of the game. I then ordered a beer. Speaking of which, they have some good varieties of beer to choose from. So that's something to keep in mind. Then I decided to give their wings another try. They end up being really good. As for the chicken sandwich that I ordered, it was okay. It was served with fries.
The waitress was pretty cool. She gave us a free drink on the house because it was the Tigers' opening day, which was very considerate.
The place has a pretty cool buzz too. There is random fireman's memorabilia throughout the place. There is also different sections where you can sit, which is nice.
Overall, while I didn't have the greatest experience a few years back with this place, I did have quite a good one this time. It was very well-rounded between the food, service,...
