I have been trying to go new places and try new things so I purchased a Groupon for this place. It was about to expire, so we made the trek down to Wyandotte to try it out. I didn't realize how far Wyandotte really is from Canton, it took about 40 minutes, which is a long time with three kiddos in the car, hungry, lol. We get there and there's parking right on the street, which was awesome, and it looked super cute and quaint from the outside. I even took a picture with my littles outside. My mom is originally from Wyandotte, so I thought she'd get a kick out of it (which she did :-)). We went inside and I noticed how small it was. There was only about 7 tables and 3 booths. We went up to the window and told the girl we had never been there before, and asked how it all worked. She explained the process and we ordered potato onion pierogies, a bacon bleu, bbq chicken, and taco pierogi, and an elvis crepe. It is CASH ONLY, which I knew because I had looked up the menu online and it mentioned that. We asked if they had a booster seat and she said she did, but it was in back, she had to grab it. We waited. And waited. I went back up to the counter and asked about the booster seat and she said she forgot, and went and grabbed it. I noticed it was filthy in the back area. Like, really dirty. She got the booster seat and had to clean it off, no surprise. We set it up and got the littles all situated with snacks while we waited. There was only one guy back there cooking everything, while the girl was taking orders. It looked like they were potentially the owners. They brought our food out to us, and we began eating. My littles thought the pierogies were "too spicy" (which they weren't, lol). So they didn't eat those, they didn't like the crepe (because they are toddlers and they're picky, lol). I ate a couple of the potato onion pierogies, but they really were kind of bland. They lacked taste and I didn't really want to eat the rest, even with sautéed onions all over them. I tried part of the crepe, and since I have actually been to France, and tasted true crepes, I love to try them all over the place, this was the least authentic crepe I think I may have ever tasted. It was kind of soggy, and again, bland. On the other hand, my husband, who got the flavorful pierogies, LOVED them. He talked about how good they were all the way into the next day. He wished he would have ordered more. So, while we had some leftovers, I asked for a couple take out boxes, and the girl brought me one. I had to go back up to the window to ask for another...pretty much, not worth the drive to come back here again for me...but if we lived closer, my husband would be here all...
Read moreUp until today I would say this is 5 stars. However, todays service was unprofessional in tone and response to a failure on the kitchens part to give the right food to the correct customer. I am a regular who sometimes comes over 3 times a week. Most staff know my order. I was excited to bring my friend here for the first time with the intent that she would also be a return customer. My friend was made to feel uncomfortable and a bother.
My friend and I both got two pierogi and two different sides. My friend and I got the correct sides and it wasn’t until we ate our second one that we noticed we got the wrong pierogi for our second one.
The waitress was agitated both in body language, and tone of voice. When I went up and politely explained the mix up. Which just seemed odd because we had separate reciept checks. She didn’t ask if i wanted a refund. She asked if I wanted it to go and I said,”no I don’t like this kind.” She retorted that she meant the correct one. My friend also went up after me for pierogi. Her voice was dripping with the same attitude, we felt accused. Surprisingly the blonde haired cook who I normally have went furiously through the Recipets.
The waitress set down my plate with no utensils and the box. She said something with her back to me while walking off so I asked what she said cause I didn’t hear her. She was rude in response. The amount of attitude in her tone was enough to warrant the following moment. I walked up to the counter and went to walk off. She said “what you don’t want it?” “Not if it’s served with a side of attitude.”
As someone who has been a waitress I recommend to this waitress to ,in the future if she is emotionally unable to provide customer service due to anger or whatever else, to have someone else run the food.If someone says something is incorrect apologize and fix it and say thank you for your patience. I recommend to the cook to accept sometimes mix ups happen. My friend and I were more than happy to wait and have it corrected. We all make mistakes at some point. It was the lack of customer service that made us leave.
For the record this was all witnessed by other customers who wondered what was the big deal about fixing our food, and customers walking in stopped and asked us what was wrong obviously reconsidering coming in. I told them that the waitress was unprofessional with a food mix up but that the food is amazing, and normally staff is super customer friendly. I insisted they still...
Read moreFor the most part, I liked this restaurant, and I'd probably be a regular if I lived in the area. As I don't live in the area, I'll mostly be focused on what can be improved.
No credit cards. Awkward menu. It's $1.50 per perogi, but it's unclear how many you should order. Turns out 5 is large, 3-4 medium, 2-3 small. They were out of bacon. They offer bacon or kielbasa for extra $2 with perogies. This seemed lazy. Some perogies are better than others, and I was underwhelmed by all the novelty perogies. The taco perogi, for example, was filled with taco meat. Nothing special. They should stick with what they do well. I think the staff could be better trained. While we were eating, some dude--an employee with a goatee--came in from the back of the restaurant and started eating perogies in the kitchen in front of the other employees. We could see him while we ate! The restaurant has a clear hipster vibe that doesn't seem to be helpful. They will weird out some of the older crowd.
Overall, I applaud the effort. It was a good experience, but it...
