We arrived around 6 pm, which is their dinner rush time. There isn't much seating, and we were told about 45 mins wait but actually waited about 25 mins to get a table. They fit us in as soon as they could. The staff is extremely kind and … More

The restaurant is small but comfortable. The wait staff - very attentive. The olive oil dipping is very light and flavorful. The wine list is small but diverse.

Best Italian Downriver WOW it;s so Delicious
Only the best ever super superior sauce I've ever eaten on the Chicken Marsala a wine infused mushroom loaded dish cover a succulent thinly beaten chicken breast. I can truly say the sauce has everything you'd dream about on a dish. Never in my years have I tasted anything better in a Italian dish. The wife had the special steak medallions with another creamy wine sauce sprinkled with peppercorns YUM. The fresh baked hot bread wrapped in a basket next to a plate of oil and spice with keep you munching along with a...
Read moreWhat a nice restaurant, a perfect place for a date night dinner!
Gregorio’s is located across the street from the Wyandotte Henry Ford Hospital in what seems to have been a two-story residential building. You enter the restaurant from the front door which is along Biddle street.
There is a breezeway double-door setup that you have to walk through to enter, and then there is a small bar with a couple of stools. After a brief wait, the hostess escorted us to our seats. We were fortunate to get a table in the front window of the dining room, so we had a pleasant view of Biddle and the entire restaurant.
The tables are covered in dark burgundy table cloths under a glass covering. Interestingly the menu is under glass, one facing each seat around the table.
We started with a glass of House Chianti for me and a Lemoncello Martini for my wife, both were excellent!
Because we were ordering entrees, they brought out a bread basket and herbed oil for dipping. The bread was a delicious Italian loaf, hand-cut and warm, and the oil was fresh and tasty. Sometimes you get an older EVOO that tastes “old” from being oxidized.
We couldn’t decide on appetizers. We both thought the fried Ravioli and Fried Broccoli sounded good, so we ordered one of each!
The ravioli were filled with cheese, seemed to be ricotta, and came with a dish of warm marinara for dipping. They were “OK” but seemed like they were missing some flavor. With the sauce, it reminded me of having a bite of lasagne with lots of ricotta cheese.
The Broccoli were the most disappointing dish. They are pre-formed breaded broccoli “McNugget” florette shapes filled with a chopped broccoli and cheese sauce. They came with a dish of a “zip sauce.” The sauce didn’t seem to go with it.
Our entrees were excellent! I had the Chicken Marsala, which is the dish that I use to measure Italian restaurants. If they can’t get this simple dish right, I have little hope that any of the other meals will be worth sampling. The chicken was cooked perfectly, meaning it was pounded thin, lightly floured, and fried in butter with a slight crust. I asked for extra Marsala “sauce” to ensure there was enough to dip every bite.
It came with steamed and seasoned veggies; cauliflower, carrots, and broccoli.
I also got a small side of pasta in a marinara sauce, which was delicious. I especially liked the sauce!
My wife had the Butternut Squash Ravioli, and let me tell you if you are ever in the area you have to stop in and get an order for yourself. Even if you are a couple of hours away, you are close enough to make it worthwhile. It is that good. Seriously, no exaggeration!
Overall, I will come back again. The service was excellent, as were the entrees. Oh, and the wine...
Read moreAmazing. Its obvious right away that this place takes the time to make everything from scratch and they know what they're doing. I had so many questions and they were kind enough to discuss them. The food is made from fresh produce regularly picked up from Eastern Market. The sauces are made to order, ensuring your sauce is as fresh every time. I had the lasagna last time. It was the best lasagna I've ever tasted and I had to have more. Unfortunately, the downside to made-to-order chef-run restaurants is that they occasionally run out of foods like lasagna, if you don't get there early enough, and it takes hours to make all the ingredients, put them together, and bake another. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise. It gave me the opportunity to try Gregorio's steak medallions entree and I was not disappointed. The meal came with a side of spaghetti. Another jackpot discovery. I recommend requesting the spaghetti with meat sauce. It also included a soup of the day. This time it was stuffed cabbage soup. The meal would've been worth it just for the soup. Last time, it came came with a calamari soup. I was skeptical at first but it was just as amazing as everything else. I'd definitely like another bowl soon. The portions are surprisingly perfect. I'm a big eater and somehow I had no leftovers yet was completely satisfied. My guests, both times, arrived at the same perfectly portioned level of full. I tried my guests food as well. The gnocchi was delicious. I'm used to it being served with a traditional spaghetti sauce but their pink-toned spin blew my prior experiences away. They offer multiple variations on ravioli in both meat and vegetarian options. There is no wrong choice so feel free try something new. The bread basket they provide is adequate but you'll still need another because it compliments the special garlic and vinegar sauce, also provided, incredibly. The attention to flavor in every bite and the fresh ingredients are worth the price. You're not gonna get an experience like this from some diner with Sysco bulk pre-made ingredients. Market fresh ingredients cost a little more but it's not priced outrageously. They're not cheap but not out of reach to working class people for a date or special meal and its...
