A local gem. I like restaurants with their own vibe.
I arrived at 1:30 on a Friday. The place was busy with a few families and other couples. The staff was very inviting as soon as you enter. I sat in a booth near the door and offered a drink of choice(“Coke please”) while I looked over the menu. I chose the original slider, a small poutine(something that is not found most other places). There were several other choices that sounded as equally tempting well. But I wanted a fair comparison with the burgers. My eyes couldn’t help but look around at the decorations that adorned every wall. There were family pictures, to posters, to sports memorabilia, and miniature figurines. The floor was also made of pennies encased in plastic pretty cool.
My food arrived on a small silver tray. That’s different. Burgers were wrapped in paper. The burgers were hot, buns were warm and onions were grilled. The condiments were added but could have used a few more pickles. The poutine was in red check paper food tray with a plastic fork. In my poutine the fries were thinner than usual and appeared to be hand cut as the skins were included. They were crispy, not the slightest bit limp, and they were fairly generous with the gravy and cheese curds. The gravy could have used just a hint more pepper. The wait staff were all pleasant. Moriah, who worked in the area where I was seated, was always around checking on her customers. The other staff members were equally diligent in their service. Overall it was good. It is the kind of visit that brings one back to try other Menu items. The price point could be a bit better but it’s not White Castle either

Read moreLove the decor and the servers were super friendly! However It’s really important to me to have exceptional experience all the way around. My daughter enjoyed her Burger and shake, but my youngest daughter and I ordered fries and tried the fried pickles. The fries were over cooked and cold. Meanwhile the fried pickles didn’t meet the mark, as when I bit into the whole pickle fell out. Possibly could use something different for the batter mix. My daughters salad was literally a half head of lettuce with big chunks of carrots and a few tomatoes which she took one bite of.The Chili was ok. Restaurant wasn’t packed, but we somehow ended up literally right next to a family of 6.
Which is normally fine except for one of the kids was continuously sneezing nose uncovered after eating so we didn’t stay long as we would have. It seems to be a nice spot downtown to grab strictly a burger, maybe a cocktail. If I returned I’d be reminded to order something they specialize in and request hot fries. But then again if I have to make a request I generally speaking won’t eat it. As I would NEVER trust sending food back with a complaint. Disappointed because I definitely wanted to return and grab a jacket I...
Read moreBased on our recent dining experience compared to the past and recent reviews, it became clear, Joe's Hamburgers recently raised their prices significantly. Our family of four dined in recently. Not including a tip, we spent just over $45. We got two single patty burgers ($12.99 a piece), two hot dogs ($3.29 a piece), and two soft drinks ($3.99 a piece). Fries weren't even included with the burger and our family of four split a small portion of french fries ($3.49). My wife and I, and our two children are usually able to dine at Texas Roadhouse and get two medium sized sirloin steaks, two sides each, waters, with basically unlimited bread and feed our family of four for $5 more than we paid at Joe's Hamburgers tonight. What used to be our go to family Hamburger joint where we could get away with spending maybe $30 max has priced us out of returning unfortunately. The food and service are always great however! Maybe we will be able to return soon if prices get better as the economy...
