MT's Pizza King — Restaurant in Wyandotte

I have been eating their pizza and pepperoni rolls, basically forever! Actually started at the old Pizza King on Wick and Mortenview but the city of Taylor screwed that location up and now they are gone. So I was happy the last couple of years driving all the way over here because they made identical pepperoni rolls! WELLL... the new owner has changed them completely and now the rolls don't even come close in taste or texture to the long skinny beautiful tasty brown rolls from before. To put it mildly..... Not good at all. They have ruined the last great pepperoni roll that was left in all of America. Shame! It's all over now. Until I find another place that can make the rolls like they used to, I'll just keep on searching. You can definitely tell the way they are assembled and cooked.... They do not know anything about making a closed, filled, bread roll, that is hard.. Not crunchy... Not soggy... Not overfilled with way too much cheese that just becomes a gooey blob of unidentifiable stringy curd looking white stuff... That's is now way undercooked to save time! The pepperoni roll when filled correctly and cooked properly used to actually leak that sweet golden pepperoni grease that drains out down your hand when you bit into it... Now pepperoni is just stacked to thick where the inside really never cooks and releases that tasty grease. You've lost more than my business because I used to tell everyone I met, about those great well made and properly cooked rolls... But I can't any longer. And yes I have probably eaten well over a few hundred rolls from many different places and they were the absolute best at Pizza King.... Is all I can say. Were.... I called this place, to try something new! Well I was completely let down by the experience! I used google maps to research this pizza 🍕 shop, look👀ed at The reviews and decided too give Pizza 🍕 King 👑 a try! WOW WHAT AN UNEXPECTED CUSTOMER RELATIONS DISASTER! When I phoned in my order, I was on their web site and asked for the “All Meats ”16” pizza with extra cheese 🧀 and pepperoni 🍕! I also asked if the $3.00 off coupon would be redeemed at time of payment? Jenny the manager told me at the Wyandotte location they did not have the “All Meats Pizza 🍕! So I thought 💭 this is a lot of trouble over a pizza 🍕, searched for other places found nothing of interest! I called back Pizza 🍕 King 🤴 no answer! Called back again later and Jenny answered, I order a 16” Pizza 🍕 with all the meats and extra cheese 🧀 and pepperoni! NO PROBLEM! NOW DID YOU JUST SEE WHAT HAPPENED THEIR? Was told it would be ready in 20 minuets, I drove there in 7 minutes to wait! While I was reading 📖 the reviews about Pizza 🍕 King 🤴, one ☝️ constant comment made in several reviews was, no one answers the phone ☎️! In the 15 Minutes I was waiting for my Pizza 🍕 3 Times no one answered the phone 📲! When my Pizza 🍕 was ready, on scheduled time, I asked if Jenny had applied the $3.00 coupon from the web site? Jenny then said “ that coupon applies in Indiana not here!” But I will give you the pop free! I REALLY FEEL 🤔 JENNY THINKS I’M STUPID!! Edit to raise my rating as I gave it another shot after feedback from owner. I tried the grandmother pizza and garlic knots and they were good!

Not about this new ownership ruining the cheesy goodness of the pizza, which along with the old style of pepperoni rolls was the soul reason to order from them. If you're thinking of ordering because you want that cheesy cheesy deliciousness that they used to have, better look elsewhere.

I'd describe the high concept of what I just ate as "What if we made the same quality as the pizza you'd get in a Little Caesars hot and ready, but burnt the bottom?"

I will say though they do got the curly pepperoni still, which I do love! But these felt not as curly as before? It's like they didn't feel like the pizza was worthy of curling for.

I don't know, I edited my original review because I came in pretty hot. I'm mostly just disappointed. Checked and I've had 18 Doordash orders from here since 2021, more from my wife's account. I'd get my square from Jets, my round from Pizza King. The cheese at Pizza King falls off like in Goofy Movie I'd say. Life was good.

This doesn't feel like improving the recipe, this feels like making cost cuts to recoup an investment. The new logo is nice, I just wish you didn't spend the cheese budget on it.

I will miss the cheese, but I will always have fond memories of the strings hanging a foot...
