Awesome burger and great experience overall.
Big Boy (burger) - ($0.99 with Pop special): The Tuesday before Thanksgiving, they had a deal where you buy a pop and you get a Big Boy burger for $0.99. That was why I came. The burger was well done and less appealing, but for the price, I am not complaining. The Big Boy sauce is similar to 1000 Island Dressing, but is distinctly their own.
Best Cheeseburger on the Planet - $13.49: Not the best, but close and VERY good! I had one bite with just a bit too much Big Boy sauce, but the rest was well balanced and full of savory goodness. The burger was cooked a little above medium, super juicy good, and a good quality meat. The toppings were fresh.
Fries - (with burger): Not a lot of salt, but tasty enough without needing salt. Steak fries, but maybe a little smaller. Some were crispy good, but most of it was soft and delicious. If you get your burger without fries, it is $1 cheaper. Get the fries. It is well worth $1.
Service: VERY helpful and on top. It was on the busier side, but they were well prepared for it. We were seated immediately, orders taken quickly, and the food arrived in a very reasonable amount of time. Pops were always full until we said we were done and the check came quickly. No complaints with service.
Atmosphere: Nostalgic diner style with some modern flavors which harkens back to its 1936 roots. Has it been almost 90 years?? It was kept up fairly cleanly. The booths were on the smaller side, but not bad and were in great shape. There was some construction in the front on the inside going on when we stopped. Maybe some small upgrades?
Conclusion: I’d go back for their larger burgers for sure! Everything was great in our experience. We were early enough to actually smell breakfast and it smelled really good! Might have to keep that in mind.

Read moreWe hadn't been to Big Boy in a while. We decided to visit it today. We were greeted by the hostess who was nice. We went to our seat and my seat had a bunch of hard bacon pieces on it. I brushed them off to the floor--no big deal. Next we were greeted by our waitress named Erin. I asked if I could replace the fries that came with the slim jim with another side of an equal price as the fries. This is where the trouble began. Erin said "no, there would be an upcharge for any substitutions". I said that we had done so in the past and she bluntly said, "no, you can't do that". I had to figure something else out to eat then because I don't care for fries and I didn't want to have to pay for something I didn't want, so I ordered soup. Again, she bluntly said "no, you can't have soup because soup is on the salad bar already". On previous visits, the waitress would just dish the soup up and bring it to us. I then proceeded to order a side salad and mashed potatoes instead. In the past, the mashed potatoes would come in a cup. They came out flattened like a pancake on a plate (and were a bit hard on the edges), with no butter, just the potatoes. Erin didn't bring them out and the cook had to do it, so he went back and brought out butter. Erin then proceeded to talk with some people at the next table who were friends of hers and never asked us again if everything was all right, if we needed anything, etc. When it came time for our bill, she just plopped it on the table and said "here you go" or something like that. We had always had good service and food there in the past, so I don't know if it is new management or if it was just a poor waitress or what, but it "left a bad taste in our mouths" and needless to say, we did not leave a tip and we will probably not set food in the Wilson Big...
Read moreNow I see why they get a 3.9 in rating, although I’m surprised that it’s not even lower than that. I’d give a 2.5 if I could but I couldn’t so it’s an overall 2 for me. I’ve always loved their food but it’s just not worth it. Dining in, you can at least make sure that your food is correct, send it back if not and hope for it to be right this time around. Service not all that friendly. Hasn’t ever been. Management acts like they just don’t care, especially when ordering delivery. BEWARE! If you go the delivery route (ie: DoorDash) They will get your order messed up 99.9% of the time. They will leave items out, and will not pay attention to any special instructions or modifications at all. Twice recently I ordered the same exact order. Stupid I know, but my son wanted a specific thing they have there. Both times my sides were messed up/inedible. The coleslaw was either missing or already went bad. My fries were raw. The second time I had mashed potatoes instead and it was obviously spoiled leaving me again with just one small sandwich to eat. The spoiled coleslaw was put sideways in the bag and spilled all over the bottom getting all over everything. I had nothing to drink and was dehydrated so I just ordered a pop. Told myself they’d forget it and that I’ll probably have the same issues as before. And of course I was left with the same exact outcome and absolutely nothing to drink. I had to order somewhere else just for something to drink. It just seems like the staff there have given up and don’t really care...
