We purchased the imperial dinner for two, along with a special fried rice. I asked the gal if the bbq pork was enough for two and she assured me it was. This order was to go as we live approximately 25 miles away. When I went to pick this order up the waitress told me everything was there as they checked it twice. It was explained that we had an issue the last time when we didn't receive certain items of our order. She assured me it was correct. When getting home and opening up the dinner, there was no bbq pork, nor fried rice which come with the meal. At this time I didn't recognize that we didn't have the rice.We had our special fried rice which we ordered in addition. I called once and complained that we did not receive the bbq pork. When I called the first time I did not realize we hadn't received the rice. She said that I can come back and get the bbq pork. It was explained that we live 25 miles out of town and was told the order was together and expected the bbq pork to be a part of this meal. She said when you come back we'll give you a bbq pork. I hung up and as I start eating the egg roll I'm noticing it being hard and kind of burnt, so I'm also noticed that we didn't have the rice as well,So I called them back and told them I want my money back. She said bring the food back and we will give you your money back. It was said that will be the next day. So we packed up the meal with most of it untouched. By the way the sweet and sour was hard as well . We bring the food back she takes it back to the manager and five min later says they will only give half of our money back. I explained that the majority of the food was there and the meal was bad, but they refused to do any more. Personally I have never had to take a meal back . Obviously the organization cares noting about future business otherwise they would have provided a full refund. Secondly they were not busy. There were no patrons in the restaurant and they had two people come in for pick up orders. We gave them at least 80% of the meal back. Golden wheel used to be good. We had been going there since the late 70's but their quality has deminished over time. We will not...
Read moreI don't like to leave negative reviews but considering me and my family have been waiting to come here, I have to let others know it is just not the same. We were the first ones here when it opened, I enjoy the dark setting and the big booths. Tables used to have the chinese placemats but they were non existent this trip and the menus have been redone. Our waitress was pleasant she took our order right away and checked in on drinks, I didn't have the heart to say how we didn't enjoy the food. There was an aftertaste with the water and soda i recieved I couldnt put my finger in what it could be, maybe the ice or the dishes themselves. As for the food I had been thinking about the almond chicken for months as it had always been a staple and no other place could compare. Unfortunately the gravy must have a new recipe because it has a dark color and the taste is nowhere near what it used to be, I was so disappointed. I also ordered the sweet and sour prawns which tasted like vinegar and was so goopy/gelatin like that I tried scraping it off to salvage the prawns thay seemed reheated cuz the batter was chewy and not cripy like in the past. The eggroll was not good either I dont think the sweet n sour even attached to it when i dipped it. The fried rice was also a let down as it was mushy I remember a time grabbing a spoonfool and having individual grains spill off the sides from the little mound, not this time. I had ordered a to-go plate but after the food we tried eating I...
Read moreThe Golden Wheel, although their "stiffest drink in the valley" moniker is correct, is sinking, considering the reviews I've read elsewhere.
The restaurant itself could use a face lift, and some effort put into noise control. Clearly hearing conversations from the other side of the room killed any conversation of our own; being partially deaf I shouldn't have heard them at all, but might as well have been sitting with them instead of 30 feet away. Heard every word.
It's hard to mess up a Long Island Ice Tea, but the bartender managed. Not sure if it was cheap rotgut gin, mixed way out of proportion or what, but it took a teaspoon of table sugar and an hour to drink it.
My partner asked for a Colorado Bulldog, even described how it was made, and back came a Smith and Wesson. Close, just swap the cola and creme proportions.
Dinner was edible. The breading on my sweet and sour chicken was soft and gummy, the sauce from a jar, the fried rice as bland as it could be. Her egg foo yong was passable, a bit gummy and bland as well, but good enough for her to take the leftovers.
If you're looking for the stiffest drink around, and can stomach the mixology, go for it. If you're looking for GOOD Chinese cuisine, this isn't your...
