This morning as my third visit to NUYU. I was thrilled when I moved to Yakima that there was a juice bar with a health-conscious menu. The juices are fine and are for the most part, worth the price tag. This morning I ordered "Epic" which is a smoothie bowl listed under the 'Smoothie Bowl' section of their Menu. What I received was a bowl with 8 blueberries, 6 slices of banana and dry granola. I asked the woman who helped me why there wasn't smoothie in the bowl. She said this was a dry bowl. "So why is it listed under Smoothie Bowl?" I asked. The answer received was that most customers know this one is different. I drove away feeling knowing I had grossly overpaid $8 plus 20% tip for what I received. On top of that, it didn't taste good. I think it's really tough to market and up-sell manufactured granola for most restaurants which is why good places usually resort to making their own.
2 stars. The concept is more or less sound however when you compare this business with others in it's same category outside of Yakima, the execution is poor. Save yourself time and money and make your own healthy...
Read moreI have to say that the customer service was great! Friendly staff and attentive but $9 for a regular salad and on top of it ,the quantity you get is a bit ridiculous....A prepackaged salad at any convenience store would be better and at half the cost.
Edit: I would have to disagree, unfortunately, the quality and quantity did not reflect that. It tasted exactly like the classic iceberg salad you'd get at walmart (and that's not to be rude ) . You also mentioned "when it's accessible"..so theres no consistency. While I understand you're trying to be eco-friendly, I've seen other establishments pull through without impacting other areas. As someone who tracks their food, 24oz isn't alot and that's also depending if you measure that apart from the container. I feel like I'm a pretty reasonable person, I think you would be able to accomplish the same mission without the extra cost or at least improve the quantity/quality. That being said , the review isn't meant for malicious intent, I'm just here to express an honest opinion. If I happen to return and encounter a different experience, I would gladly...
Read moreDriving from Pasco to Tacoma, we saw the Nuyu juice bar sign on the freeway and plugged it into maps. It was ten minutes off the freeway and we almost passed it so keep your eyes peeled. Also, couldn’t tell if it was open or not but we tried the door and were promptly greeted with a smile.
Glancing over the menu I was happy to see all the vegan options! We got the breakfast burrito, breakfast sandwich, thrive juice, another one I can’t remember the name of.
My breakfast sandwich exceeded expectations and the juice was extraordinary, too. My fiancé, hard to impress 3 time winner of the Best Chef of the South Sound Magazine, loved his breakfast burrito. He said it was good and simple - which is a huge compliment.
We are so happy we saw that sign and stopped and had some food and juice! We will definitely plan to stop next time we are...
