This is officially my favorite restaurant in Yelm! The food is sooooo delicious, I found myself going back again and again :)
So far I tried three different dishes:
The red lantern chicken is 'To Live For', made with grilled free range (!) chicken in an amazing peanut souce.
I also tried a delicious soup that had shrimps and vegies in a fantastic lemon grass flavored broth.
And I tried the 7 flavors beef which was on the sweet side, if you like this flavor, and was very delicious and soft.
I can't wait to try more things on the menu. Next, I am going to try the Thai salad which was served at a table next to us and looked super appetzing! In fact every dish that passed by us to a near by table looked amazing.
The cooks here sure know how to create a pleasurable experience with their use of flavors!
I also like how they renovated the place with nice, clean, sparkly decor and I appreciate the lovely and friendly service, which completed the pleasant experience.
Prices are a bit higher than other restaurants around, but I'd say that's justified for the quality of the experience and worth every penny.
There was not one thing that clouded the experience plus this is the type of place where you can have both a casual meal and also a special occasion type meal.
Altogether, as you probably realized by now, I highly recommend this place. Hell, I'd move in and eat there daily if I could. Lol.
If you didn't try it yet and want to give yourself a treat, this is your place to go have an 'explosion of flavors'...
Read moreSo disappointing. Ordered chicken egg rolls and mongolian beef to go for two. Called it in. When I showed up to pick it up, the waitress had only out in for chicken egg rolls...some excuse about being in a rush to leave. The lady who helped me was great however. She fixed it and I paid and waited. About 4 minutes later I got my food. When I got home, I found soupy mongolian beef and sadly costco egg rolls. I'm a line cook by profession so I can see the difference....
The mongolian beef was unseasoned, soupy and they gave something similar to packing peanuts with it....not eating those. The egg rolls were given with a dippy sauce of...drum roll....oil from their grill. Remember...I'm a line cook...I can taste it cause I have in the past lol.
The rice was...rice. The only positive experience from this was the lady who worked closing tonight who I tipped heavily. The restaurant looked nice...but from experience that's a red flag. The food...let's just say Safeway deli is leagues better.
I won't be visiting again. Sadly the Golden Dragon has diminished so heavily in Yelm that it has allowed subpar asian cuisine to enter and make palate-less individuals think it's great.
Alas I will be journeying north towards tacoma in the future in my hunt for good...
Read moreMy rating is for the disrespect we received from the owners/whomever was in the back and the waitress who never came back to answer my question.
we ordered the crab rangoon and I asked if it was real crab because I am used to imitation being used. What we got was four flat.. not puffed pieces with a smear of cream cheese and what looked like no crab at all. No crab taste either. I let the waitress know and asked if they could re make. apparently they are made ahead of time day prior. I even asked a different waitress if we could please be comped the app if they couldn't remake. I never got a response. Nothing offered as an alternative either.
Extremely disappointed in the owners not taking care of their clients. Food extremely expensive for what you get. Ambience is nice but for $10 for poor overpriced apps can't make up for it.
Our meals were good.. seafood delight and the seafood red curry. Good flavor. okay amount of seafood but expensive. we were also not given an extra container for the rice to go. Barely asked how our food tasted so service was only decent. Curry mixes are a bit on the sweet side. Have come here before with similar issue
Will not be coming back because of this.
the little boy was more respectful...
