I'm a guy from NYC so I've only heard of the fables In-n-Out... so on a recent trip to Cali, I had to check it out!
Let me tell you... it's every bit as good as it is famed to be. The burgers and big and juicy, the fries are crisp and perfectly salted, the shakes are the perfect level of solid and still drinkable, and the price? For something so much more superior than a McD meal, I got it for cheaper!
So we got the burgers on the way back from a trip so we hit up the drive thru. Someone walked up to our car in the queue and took the order and sent it to the team. By the time we pulled up, we got our food in a couple of boxes.
The burgers had pretty good cuts of lettuce and onions and tomatoes. Not the tiny, messy bits, or the butts of lettuce or tomatoes. No. Each burger came with a nicely dressed selection of the salad. The meat itself... juicy, stayed together, perfectly seasoned, just a great burger!
I got the animal fries from the secret menu. The ingredients that topped it off that made it animal fries were a great combination. My favorite part had to be the grilled onions. The sweetness and tenderness of the caramelized onions went so well with the salty, crispy fries.
My meal was finished with a strawberry shake. It had a great flavor, didn't taste too sweet like many other strawberry shakes I've had at other places.
For such a good eating experience, the price was VERY affordable. For 2 double doubles, 2 hamburgers, a cheeseburger, fries, animal fries, a strawberry shake, and a coke, it came out to I think ~$43.
It's fast food prices for the quality of a sit down restaurant. When I get back to Cali again, I'm grabbing me some...

This was my second time trying In-N-Out, and honestly, I’m still not impressed. I know the chain has a big following, but the experience just doesn’t live up to the hype for me.
On the positive side, this particular location in Yorba Linda is kept fairly clean. The dining area looked neat, the tables weren’t cluttered, and overall it seemed that the team does make an effort to maintain the space. That’s definitely appreciated.
The staff, however, left a bit to be desired. While they weren’t rude, they seemed to be just going through the motions. A lot of them were acting like kids, joking around more than focusing on customer service. The energy felt more like a high school hangout than a professional team running a busy fast-food spot. A smile or a bit more attentiveness would have made a big difference in how welcoming the place felt.
As for the food — it’s decent, but not memorable. The burger didn’t stand out compared to other options, and while it’s affordable, it just felt average. I didn’t walk away craving more or feeling like I’d want to come back soon.
Overall, it’s not terrible, but it’s also not the amazing experience that so many people rave about. Clean location and decent food, but the service and overall vibe really need some work. For me, it...
Read moreIn-N-Out has always stood out because they make your burger just the way you want it. I’ve worked with them, and we’ve always been able to customize our burgers however we like. I’m not sure when they stopped allowing the 5x0, since it seems the maximum now is four patties — and that’s honestly a little sad.
I know Brooke lied to me, but I’m not going to argue with her. There’s already too much negativity and hate these days, and I’m not here to start problems. Still, I wanted to share this and let the executives know: I hope In-N-Out continues to honor what made them special — giving customers the freedom to enjoy their burgers their way.
Love you...
