The decor is beautiful, muted dark colors, and dramatic Thai statuary and the like. The staff is very friendly. I am now going to list out a few thoughts in numerical order, but not with any implication as to number:
The live music guy in the bar, while excellent with his singing abilities, needs to find more up beat music... his songs depressed my fiancee and I while we ate, and made us want to break up, look at old photos, and then make up later and, in the infamous words of Milli Vanilli "Blame it on the rain."
The water... OH WOW... I uh, don't usually go on about the water a place serves, but something about it is so good... so refreshing... even the ice cubes were killer... the water is extra cold (something we like) and comes out in these glistening glasses, with lemon, and the lemon flavor is so strong! It's almost as if they are channeling my mom's old trick of add lemon to the water, some sweetener and you'd have lemon aid!
The quality of the food is exceptional. Wow... everything we ordered over the course of our two nights eating there was top notch. Not too spicy, but with the ability to fire it up as you like. Good, complex Thai flavors. I have not yet tried the curry, I tend to avoid Thai curry, too much coconut milk for me.... but that leads me to #4
We ordered the mango and sticky rice the first night for dessert. I am very judgmental of this dish, and they REALLY WOWED us... I mean they closed at 10pm, we ordered it at 10:05pm, and they brought us out the sweetest, most tender, most melt in your mouth mango, and the sticky rice had that flavor that... oh man, I want to go back right now to eat it! YUM.
We ordered Sake last night, and they use the distillery in Berkeley, CA... POINTS right there! (Sho Chiku Bai)
It was not in my opinion overpriced for what you got... more than enough food and that enlightened full feeling at the end.
I would tell ANYONE to go to this spot if they have a hankering' for Thai, and even if they don't......
Read moreMy wife and I are big fans of Thai cuisine, and last night we decided to try Signature Thai Bistro. We were intrigued because it occupies the same space as Supatra's, a spot we used to frequent years ago before the change in ownership.
We called ahead to make a reservation and were seated promptly within a minute of our arrival. My wife follows a gluten-free vegan diet, and Thai food has always been a reliable choice for her. She called in advance to ensure options were available, and the staff was accommodating.
Our server, Paul, was outstanding. He went above and beyond to ensure the kitchen was informed about my wife's dietary needs, making the experience seamless and stress-free.
Here's what we ordered:
Tom Kha Soup: Excellent, bursting with rich and vibrant flavors.
Summer Rolls: My wife loved them--fresh and perfectly prepared.
Mango Mood drink: Another hit, beautifully balanced and refreshing.
Wine: A familiar choice for my wife that paired well with the meal.
String Beans and Eggplant: Very delicious, with bold and flavorful seasoning.
Crying Tiger: Unfortunately, this dish didn't meet my expectations and is one we wouldn't recommend.
Overall, the food was excellent, aside from the Crying Tiger, and the service was exceptional. Special thanks to Paul for his attentiveness and genuine kindness.
We highly recommend Signature Thai Bistro for its delicious offerings and...
Read moreLove this place!! We waited way too long to visit Supatras Thai and now that we have, we'll be lifelong loyal patrons. We have tried the following items so far and everything has tasted very authentic: Gang Ped is by far our favorite dish, a little spicy and best with shrimp. Absolutely delicious curry dish. Pineapple Fried Rice is our other top dish and while it is a little pricey, it is worth every cent. Very flavorful and a generous portion. Happy Hour Wontons are a classic and on Happy hour you can also order edamame (spicy recommended) Egg rolls are authentic and good Orange Chicken is authentic and good Pad Thai is authentic and good Pad Kee Mao was good but not my favorite Beef and broccoli was very good. My husband's dish and he brought the leftovers home Mango & Sticky Rice was very good but we are usually too full for dessert
The staff is always super welcoming and attentive. We prefer to dine in, there is never a wait but they are always steady with business. Lots of people order take out or Doordash.
This review is long overdue, and we hope Supatras continues to stay busy for...
