Letâs just say Cats in Need should have fine print under their name that states âbut not for families with kidsâ! After visiting several other PetsMarts in outlying counties in a hunt to find a family-friendly kitten for our home, I called the Rancho Cucamonga one to verify they had kittens, as none of the other stores did. After to our delight hearing they did, we made the 25 mile drive from a previous store to find three of the cutest kittens caged together at the adoption event. As I asked if we may interact with one that took the time to stop eating to rub against the cage towards my daughter in an effort to gain her affection, I was asked âIs that your family?â. As I answered with the obvious answer of âyesâ, the volunteer at the event quickly answered âWe canât adopt to you. It is policy to not adopt to anyone with children in the home under 8 years old.â So in front of everyone, I now was dealt the task of having to break the heart of my little 5 1/2 year old daughter as to explaining why she not only couldnât hold this kitten that came up to her, but that we had to leave because they wouldnât adopt to us as well. To a little girl that had worked so hard to do so well in school to earn a chance for us to have a family pet, this was a devastating blow in a very sensitive child. The fact that this was not disclosed prior to our effort to come in for the adoption event, but also that a rule like this discriminating against families with children of any age even exists, is counter-productive to the goal of trying to find forever homes for these wonderful cats. Iâm sure our large home would have been a horrible place for these little kittens to have grown up, full of love, someone always home and all the cat toys it could have desired! Iâm sure this kitten would much rather be in a childless apartment somewhere sitting in its cat tree 24/7, maybe getting some excercise from running up and down the hall wondering when itâs workaholic human parent might be home to cuddle! Good job...

My boyfriend Mike and I had the most incredible experience with this animal rescue organization. Not just once, but twice!
Our journey began in November, when we rescued a sweet cat we named Muffins who was abandoned by her previous owners. We had the joy of fostering her until the rescue, with the support of Amanda and Debbie, found her a wonderful forever home. What made it so special was that I actually got to meet Muffinsâ new owner, and to this day, she still sends me updates. It was such a bittersweet goodbye, but knowing sheâs loved and thriving means everything.
Then in February, fate stepped in again when Mike found another stray. This time, a beautiful cat we named Po. We didnât realize until a week later that Po was pregnant. Initially, we planned to work with the rescue just to find her a home, but they encouraged us to go through the journey of her pregnancy and help raise the kittens.
With the rescueâs guidance and support, we cared for Po and her litter. Watching her transition from a territorial stray to a nurturing, affectionate mom was such a moving experience. Once the kittens were weaned, the organization ensured each was adopted in bonded pairs, so theyâd always have a sibling - something that really touched our hearts.
And then there was Po. After her spay and recovery, she started getting along wonderfully with our other cats, and honestly, we couldnât imagine letting her go. She had become such a part of our family. Today, we officially adopted her.
Weâre so grateful for Amanda, Debbie, and everyone at the organization. They were compassionate, responsive, and truly committed to every animalâs well-being. Their support made all the difference in both experiences, and we feel honored to have worked with them.
Thank you for helping us give Muffins and Po the futures they deserve. Youâve made our lives brighter, and our...
Read moreI have had so many incredible interactions with all the CIN volunteers. They are so responsive, and genuinely care. My first interaction with them was when I contacted them a few years back for help to rescue a mama cat & her kittens from a dangerous warehouse situation. All were subsequently rescued and provided with medical attention, food / water, shelter, love, and ultimately their forever homes which was amazing! A year or so after that, my husband and I adopted 3 rescued furbabies from them and we will remain forever friends with their foster parents who selflessly gave their own time to ensure they were healthy, loved, spayed / neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, etc. The work this organization does to save lives goes beyond just the kitties; they helped our hearts tremendously after we lost our sweet older kitty & we were so devastated. If you ever need help to save a life, they respond almost immediately! And if you ever wish to bring a saved life into your family, they will make sure your new furbaby is well cared for both emotionally and physically before they come to their forever home with you. God bless this organization and all the wonderful volunteers who have the biggest hearts. The world needs more fantastic humans like you in it! Pic is of my husband & I the day we got to meet our new...
