Route 20 — Restaurant in Yorkville

A little about me I have 26 years in the food business. 7 of those being a consultant for restaurants. First off the theme of the restaurant is great. Place seemed to be very clean. Problems started with a bartender who is just a drink server. I let her know right away I was from out of town and not familiar with the local brewers. She offered no help with ordering a nice local brew. Second off I order shrimp cocktail for appetizer it came out fast, the shrimp was slimy and smelled really bad. I ate one tasted as bad as it smelled. The cocktail sauce was like jello. Which simply means that it was prepared in the cup and sat in a refrigerator, so basically it was old. On their menu they supposedly take pride in their cocktail sauce. But I would say they dont it it is pour in a plastic cup and put in a refrigerator to be thrown out fast with order. The shrimp was definitely precooked and set up at least week and a half to get the rotten smell and slime that it had. I pushed the app away. The bartender came over a while later and took the plate. If she had good experience she would of noticed that only one was eaten and should of asked if something was wrong with them. For entree I ordered there ribeye dinner. The steak was ordered medium and it came out cooked well done which was easily able to cook well done when it is about a 6 oz steak that is paper thin looks like it belongs on a sandwich instead of a dinner. I have to say this place was very disappointing. The staff needs a lot of training here and cooks are probably kids with no experience. I was going to stay for band at night but I had very bad taste in my mouth after the food here. You could probably get a better meal at truck stop across the street...

The location is easy to find not the bar and restaurant. It's hard to explain the bar area; it was cold and had chairs and tables stacked so you could only sit at the bar or dinning area. We choose to sit in the larger or dinning room. The dinner menu was large offering American cuisine at $$-$$$. I ordered fried chicken which came with a teeny tiny ketchup cup of coleslaw. When the amount of coleslaw is that tiny, why do they bother giving it? I did like the coleslaw over the other side, a soup cup of white rice which was a few grains a of wild rice and tiny pieces of carrots, because the rice was so bland and dry. My mistake. I should have ordered everyone's favorite greasy fries. I rarely order fries for several reasons. Any way, the young male waiter got my chicken order wrong but worse was when the bill came, also wrong. I don't usually look at the bill, and I don't know why I did this time, but three items were on it that I didn't order and the waiter didn't know whose they were. My original waiter left, replaced by a female. I showed her the extra charges. She returns with another wrong bill. This time I circled the two charges and watched her enter the bill. All in all, the chicken, even though it was all dark meat, was crispy and hot. At $10+ it might have been worth it if the rice had flavor, not served in a cup and if the coleslaw had flavor and not served in a ketchup cup. Service overall was bad. How a bill could have taken that long to be correct was just bad. The...

First time there for me and my family actually caught a whiff while we were looking a campers across the street and my kids were foaming at the mouth.. We walked in on a Thursday with live bluegrass band playing which definitely was cool to have live entertainment. The place was packed and I think we got the last parking spot. We got seated right away and ordered some appetizers cheese fries with bacon and deep fried cheese curds with jalepeno ranch dip I would HIGHLY recommend both ,but especially the cheese curds W/JALEPENO RANCH DIP. I had a Rancher burger with egg ,bacon, bbq,cheese, VERY VERY TASTY A+++... My 2 teen boys got a bison burger to split(which was a little on the dry/ lean side but it is bison its a very lean meat. They also split a full rack of ribs (these were super thick ribs with a ton of meat that you could slip right off the bone with ease and for once they couldn't finish their plate cause they were stuffed ...😜 teenagers full??? didn't think that was possible! Anyhow My wife had fettuccine alfredo with the angel hair noodles again wasn't let down at all and it was some of the best I ever had...! So in a nutshell the food was great, Staff was right on, The live entertainment kept us entertained. I will definitely be going back...
