The dining room was clean and the service was great. The fried cheese appetizer wasn't bad either. Unfortunately it's a depressing dining room that looks straight out of the 1980s, the bread is out of a bag and served with little plastic butter packages like it's a greasy spoon diner, the pasta is obviously out of a box and WAY overpriced, and the whole business just feels like it's coasting and the passion has been gone for a long time. My wife ordered pasta with creamy marinara and sauteed spicy peppers. The creamy marinara is a thin, runny, broken sauce with oil floating at the top, and the peppers were barely cooked. If you want a giant portion of lazy cafeteria food it's terrific. The website says pizza is available starting at noon on Saturday but if you make the mistake of believing that you'll be told "the pizza guy doesn't come in until 4." Fortunately I didn't make the mistake of ordering one of their pasta dishes and we left to go eat somewhere else that isn't charging 2024 prices for 1984 cuisine Whoever owns this place should be embarrassed. Also it's a code violation not to illuminate your fire exit sign.

My wife, daughter (16), and i visited after daughter's indoor track meet at YSU. Saturday night around 6pm. We had to wait 5 minutes to be seated so not bad. I got the Francesca chicken ($16.99), which only came with the chicken, mushrooms, and broccoli (they ran out of asparagus). No pasta. Iordered a side of small spaghetti ($4.99).Came with a small side salad. Had to ask for bread, which was cold. The chicken was delicious. Water to drink. Wife got gigis aglio olio with grilled chicken ($19.98). The chicken was a little bland and dry. Pasta was good. Water to drink. Daughter got penne Alfredo with grilled chicken ($18.99). She liked it. Water to drink. Place was a bit loud but to be expected for a bar type. A little busy too. Overall, the food was fine. A little pricey for what you get. Total for the 3 of us: $69.14 paying with credit card. Cash option, you save a few bucks.

The MVR is a Mahoning Valley classic. They have a variety of Italian specialties ranging from pasta entrees to sandwiches and pizza. I went with the Meatball Splash, three sizable beefy meatballs sandwiched between two slices of Italian bread covered with provolone cheese and liberally doused with the house red sauce. If you’re fortunate enough to have Antonio as your server, you’ll find out how wonderful he is. If not, ask for him if it’s not too busy or you don’t mind waiting, because it gets crowded on the weekends and there may be a wait to get a table. If so, grab a drink at the front bar, or head to the back and watch some spirited bocci games.

The night we went to Cassese’s restaurant it was packed out, so in the area we sat it was very loud with conversation. It was hard to hear each talking. I would try to sit somewhere else next time I visit. Oh, it was a game night too & another reason for it being so crowded. The food was delicious but the cheesecake was decadent & I would have taken a slice home but it was sold out. My friends enjoyed their meals as well. I look forward to visiting again this summer & trying this restaurant for the 2nd time.
