My family and I had enjoyed their food, but their service has went down. Not sure if someone else has taken over, but the service is terrible. On 2/9/24 my father ordered pork egg foo young and he gets shrimp egg foo young. I remembered this incident because I don't eat shrimp and I had to order something else because they were closed when my father got home and we discovered it was shrimp egg foo young. At any rate, they promised my dad they would write it down that they owed him a quart of egg foo young. Yesterday, when I was placing an order and asked to get the pork egg foo young for my father ( I gave the date of the incident and my father's phone number) the person kept asking me if I wanted to get the items I ordered and a "manager" would call me back about the quart of egg foo young. This, of course, happened after being on hold for a while a couple of times. They asked again is I was placing an order or was I waiting for a manager to call me back. I told them I would wait for a manager. They called me back and asked me again if I wanted them to place the order I had. I was told the person who took the order that day was not there. Then I was told I could order the other items and bring it up at the front counter about the quart of pork egg foo young. What sense did that make? I just told the person to cancel the order and have the manager reach out to me. She said to keep my phone line open, do you think I got a call? Absolutely not. I ended up going to King Shing on Carpenter Rd at a friend's suggestion and their service and food was great. I will not be going back to Great Wall again. As another reviewer said there are other better Chinese food restaurants with...
Read moreWorst chinese food experience ever. I oredered Kung Pao Chicken and it showed up breaded and fried. I paid $25 for a Kung Pao chicken combo with a spring roll. The spring roll came with no dipping sauce of any kind. No sweet and sour, no hot mustard.
Ok... I was disappointed but whatever. But when I discovered the Kung Pao chicken was breaded and fried, I was really disappointed. So I called the restaurant to talk about this and the owner just yelled at me. She told me that Kung Pao chicken is always breaded and fried and told me that I should have asked for it otherwise.
I always call the restaurant to give them a fair chance to make things right before I have ever written a negative review. But the owner insisted that Kung Pao Chicken is always breaded and fried and she didn't think it was bad to send a spring roll without any sweet and sour sauce. $25 for really bad food and an owner who didn't want to be bothered.
Don't order from them. I know inflation is a huge problem but I think I got about $1 worth of actual chicken so they needed to bread it and fry it to seem like it was more. That is...
Read moreI'm not quite sure what happened on Christmas Eve, but it was a terrible experience. We knew because it was Christmas Eve that they'd be busy. For that reason, we ordered at 515p. I was told it would be an hour or a little more before it was ready. No problem with that. When I went to pick up the food, the place was packed. Again, no problem. I'm glad they had the business. However, long story short, it was that crowded because people were waiting literally hours for their food. I arrived around 625p to pick up my order (which was placed at 515p) and finally left at 745p. I'm not sure if they were overwhelmed with orders or what happened, but they need to look into their process on Christmas Eve.
Kudos to the cashier. She was swamped with helping folks as well as dealing with a number of impatient customers. She kept her cool and looked to be doing as good as she could in this circumstance.
This is my usual go-to Chinese restaurant. But I may have to avoid it next...
