Hands down my favorite pizza place thus far. I've lived in the Ann Arbor and Ypsi area my entire life and if you want pizza or delicious south Asian staples nothing comes close. If you're in the Ypsi on Saturday be sure to stop by their food truck at the farmer's market. Believe it or not, there's a "secret" menu here. Talk to the owner and simply ask if there's anything new that he suggests that you try. If you're lucky, sometimes you don't even have to ask. He'll simply offer for you to try something new he came up with to get honest feedback from customers. The most recent item not on the menu I tried was called the "Papa fiesta" which I would describe as a cheesy potato flat bread, and it was dang tasty. I really wish atmosphere was not something you had to rate. I personally do not care about atmosphere at a local pizza place, especially one that keeps its focus on innovative and delicious food. The food and service here is so good they don't need to compensate with a bougie atmosphere. In fact, I would still go here even if it was being sold by a guy in a trench coat in a poorly lit back alley.

Not only is this the cheapest large pizza in town, it's perhaps also the best. $8 or so for a large pepperoni and it was quick, hot, and delicious. We also got a mango laasi for $4 which tasted fresh and were conveniently ready-to-go in a cooler behind the counter. When we were there, the owner (or one of the owners) gave us two free slices of the curry pizza to try. Oh man, it was awesome. What an amazing flavor the curry pizza had. Tamarind and mint chutneys, with corn and other veggies. I am still thinking about it as I write this review. We will be back again soon for sure to get the curry pizza as soon as it's on the menu, and to also try the other recommended options like the samosa pizza. You can't beat the price, flavor, or friendliness of Mama Pizza. It's easy to pass this by because it looks a little rough on the outside but do yourself a favor and stop in for your next pizza run. You will not regret it. P.S. I think the photos speak for themselves, everything is half-eaten because we couldn't stop ourselves from chowing down first!

It was a rainy Saturday night, and I decided to give Mama Pizza's tikka chicken pizza a try for the first time after a friend said it was his most favorite pizza place. While picking up my order, I was offered a chance to taste an experimental dish that they had been working on: a chicken mango curry (picture attached). The dish was excellent, sweet and savory, and upon telling the employee - and the smiling chef who had come out to watch my reaction - how much I had enjoyed it, I was gifted the sample in addition to my pizza. It seems to me that Mama Pizza is not only a unique and delicious food experience, but is also a restaurant that is a true community establishment with a personal touch and quality of service that no chain-pizza place can match. As I left with my food, I told them they had a customer for life, and I meant every word. Mama Pizza has my highest recommendation on the quality of both food and service - and I will be sure to be back soon. ★★★★★

I have been going here since when this place first opened. The owner of this shop is one of the nicest people I have ever encountered. When you walk in, he always greets you with a smile and open arms. A very friendly owner with a mean chef skill.

The pizza there is some of the best pizza I have had since I moved here. You can tell with every bite thay je has put love, care, and tenderness into every piece when he gives it to you. And when he sells them for $1.50 a slice, it's hard to say no when you have some walking around money. The sauce, the cheese, the crust, everything just taste fresh, even when he reheats an individual slice for you to take home.and it seems like every other time I go in there, this mad scientist has cooked up a new recipe. I love the Indian fusion recipes that he will experiment with. Whether you like pizza or Indian food, I believe there will be a time where he will be able to satisfy both, as the menu is always expanding.

When I heard about it's location, it's absolutely perfect for foot traffic. If you take city transit, you can get off the bus, arrive at Mama's pizza within a 2-3 minute walk, grab a slice (or two or three), and get back to the bus station before you next ride leaves. Or you can just drop by while you're out on a walk!

The inside isn't really meant for dine in. They do have seating and a table, but you shouldn't go in expecting a sit-down pizzeria, although you do have the option to buy a beer or two while you wait. Occasionally, if you're lucky, he may even throw in a free slice of pizza while you wait for your pizza...

We went for lunch on a Saturday, right after they opened. The owner waved us in when he saw us looking to see if they really were open (the light wasn't on). He was so friendly, and hospitable. We ordered a cheese pizza & a pepperoni pizza, and 2 chai tea lattes. The chai teas were amazing - the flavor was fantastic, it was the best chai I've had in a long time. He makes it from scratch - and it is hot. I got to try the samosa roll he was testing out - its a samosa filling between 2 thin pizza crusts with cheese. When I told him my hubby was vegan - he made one without cheese so it was vegan. The roll was amazing - the potato filling was warm, the crust was crunchy, and the cheese was melted. And yet, the chutney in the roll was still cool - as if it was added on later. Which was so perfect. The level of spice was great. I can not say enough good things about these Indian Fusion pizza/roll options. The owner was talking about doing Biriyani. Personally, I would love a place I could get more Indian options from in Ypsi. The pizza was also great - we just got the basic thin crust, the cheese was lightly browned - and there was a lot of it. Next time, I'll get the vegetarian samosa roll AND a grilled dill pickle pizza - because that also sounded amazing. (pizza is the garlic white sauce, with freshly shredded dill pickles, topped with cheese & more pickle slices. Seriously, I'm salivating. And we can't wait to go back. My only hope - that he gets a vegan cheese at some point, for the pizzas & the...

Oh Ypsilanti Michigan, Mama's Pizza promises not just a meal, but an experience worth savoring. Recently, I had the pleasure of trying their Chicken Tikka Masala pizza, and it was a revelation in flavors. The blend of tender chicken, aromatic spices, and the perfect balance of softness and crunch in the bread left a lasting impression.

What truly sets Mama's Pizza apart, however, is their hospitality. As we were winding down our meal, the chef surprised us with a creation that defies convention - a peanut butter and cheese cake pizza. Yes, you read that right! This unconventional dessert pizza was a delightful adventure for the taste buds, combining sweet and savory in a way I had never imagined.

As someone from California, I'm accustomed to great food, but Mama's Pizza elevated the experience with their warm hospitality and bold culinary experiments. The staff's enthusiasm and willingness to innovate make this place not just a restaurant, but a destination for those seeking memorable dining moments.

Whether you're a local or just passing through, Mama's Pizza is a must-visit for its delicious offerings and the genuine care they show for their guests. Prepare to be surprised, delighted, and thoroughly satisfied at Mama's Pizza!! 😋 I wish I had taken photos, maybe before taken off to Cali I’ll stop and have one...
