Great vibes a week ago. Ziggy's has exceptional drinks and an excellent beer selection. It is a mix of strange and beautiful with lots of great art hanging around. It has a very comfy laid back atmosphere.
For cocktails they used top-notch ingredients, which made me want more, so be careful to restrain yourself unless you are looking to "really let loose."
Great oranges that night. The staff was rad and low-key hilarious. This is not a sports bar people.
It is a very friendly local crowd- though I could imagine that varies depending on the show. The cover charge was proper. No tickets were necessary that night.
The bands were awesome. It was the first live show in years for me due to Covid shell shock. Guess I missed a lot.
Had an unforgettable night. I love the Ween "Boognish" painting above the stage. Sure would be cool to see a band like them or maybe Jawbeaker play an "intimate show" there on their upcoming tours which seem to miss our area or go to The Blind Pig in Ann Arbor usually.
Not sure who does the booking but it has gotta be on the website. Seems like a great place to play...music that is.
Located right in the heart of downtown in our very unique city...
Read moreLocal flavor bar with coffee and dessert. Artsy decor, lots of live acts and DJs. Late (after 9:30pm) it's a hopping music venue, early it's a relaxing, quiet, welcoming coffee shop with liquor, wine and beer. It's a local place with a local vibe, and yet it's very welcoming to out-of-town visitors who seem to find it regularly. Retro furniture, rock music and comic art on the walls, pinball and video games on the side, homemade desserts, mixed drinks, big screen home video console game (free!) and wonderful service. It's a new place (2018) but it feels well established and I hope it's still there long after I'm gone. It's a great addition to the town's main street.
Update 2022 - they have a large selection of canned and bottled beer now and they sell some really expensive beers for really reasonable prices, to go! They do not have a tap at all. There is a relatively regular crowd now, but it's one that has become completely accustomed to out of town visitors because so many people come to hear bands from out of the area. The whole vibe is rather casual and still very artsy with a college town feel. They managed to keep things going through the pandemic and look to be doing as...
Read moreZiggy's is an awesome live venue with an emphasis on artist space right in downtown Ypsi.
The bar is quite complete with an espresso machine, tasty lattes, and a good selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, I did not have any food, but I want to give the highest marks possible for service and atmosphere.
This is a music venue first, and that is reflected through the way they operate. Artists run the show from the door to the bar, and the owners contribute 100% of the funds generated by cover charges to musicians and performers.
While the space is a little small, the performance area is right out front with (two-top) seating available close to the stage. Sound is great for a small stage, and amplified instruments do not need to be mic'd.
Ziggy's attracts professional musicians and performers in a way that should be sought by other small venues in Southeast Michigan; each time I have attended a show at Ziggy's the musicianship of their lineups has impressed me, reflecting that students of music really value this venue as a foundational part of the community. If you see an act you like setting up a show here,...
