I used to love this restaurant. I recommended it to everyone I knew.
Sadly, I will never return to this place! The waitress behaved in a completely unhinged manner.
I went with my husband and we both ordered diet cokes with our meals. The sodas had a horrible taste. Like mold or mildew, mixed with chemicals and medicine. I told her that something was wrong with it and I would like it removed from the bill. She didn't answer me. She just returned to her perch over by the register, where she spent her time on her phone...never asking if the food was good, or asking if we needed anything else. The one thing we did ask for was hot mustard, she acted put-out.
When the time came to go up to the register to pay I asked her if she took the soda off the bill, she said no. Then I forbade her from running my credit card unless she took it off the bill. She ignored me and ran my credit card anyway. She flat our refused to refund me for a drink that I took 2 sips from!
I politely told her to give me $3 cash, which was the cost of the soda I didn't drink. She refused. I asked her if she is willing to lose 2 good customers forever over $3. She said "I don't care, don't come back!".
We eventually got into a yelling match, in which I demanded she give me $3. She eventually gave me my $3 in cash, as the entire restaurant full of people watched her lose 2 long time loyal customers over something utterly idiotic.
I will never be going back and that's very sad. As I really did like this place. Decent food at good prices. Lunch specials and dynamite 1960s decor that you just don't find anymore. The authentic real deal. But if the people working there cannot give decent customer service, I...
Read moreWe hadn't been here in over 30 years. We had a few spare moments today and decided to stop in. We were greeted at the door by a smiling diminutive lady, who told us to sit or ever we would like. She presented menus and gave us plenty of time to decide. Hubby chose Mongolian beef and chow mein, and wife chose kung pao chicken VERY SPICY. Soup was a mild egg drop. It could have used a shaking of white pepper, but there was none on the table, but it was not a problem. The main course was beautifully presented on Lee's Canton branded plastic oval platters. The chow mein was slightly bland, yet satisfying. Texture was just a little soft to our liking, but still ok. (I pilfered some chili oil off of another table and added it to the chow mein. That helped.) The first bite of my kung pau chicken yielded a small bit of gristle, and another bite had a small piece of bone, but otherwise except for the dish being too mild for me, it was okay. (See above reference to chili oil). The chunks of carrot in the kung pao chicken were soft, as if they'd been parboiled, it was not an issue for me. Hubby's Mongolian Beef was tasty, having just the right amount of heat for him (He's a wimp 😊), and it was not overloaded with onions, which made him a very happy man. Overall the meal was pretty good, and we will very...
Read moreWe ordered food for pick up. Everything was really tasty, the only thing that wasnt a hit was the crab pulls (they were really dough, not crispy enough) could be because they were pick up, and not eaten there fresh, I have no idea.
But we ordered honey walnut shrimp, orange chicken, veggie chow mein, mixed veggies, pork drunken noodles, and cashew chicken as well. Everything was so yummy! The honey walnut shrimp was so addicting, and the walnuts had a good caramelized crunch. The mixed veggies had nice flavor and crunch and weren't over cooked. The chow mein could have had just a big more flavor for my liking, but it was still good. My mom really liked the cashew chicken. We both liked the flavor and but of heat from the orange chicken. It also wasn't dried out like some Chinese restaurants can be, the meat can get overcooked and dry and tough, but not this one.
The drunken noodles were pretty good, I added more chili oil because I like it spicier, but the flavor and texture was good. And I keep going back for more honey walnut shrimp.
Overall food was very tasty and...
