Second time here, time for a review!
Atmosphere: Very dim lit and kind of small, but not too small to be cramped; tables are laid out to maximize their space use. Much to my surprise it was quiet. The music isn't too loud but I loved the mix: I heard Depeche Mode twice, Duran Duran and other classic rock, which I loved. The restaurant has a German theme.
Cleanliness: All servers appeared clean and also weren't bad to look at! The bar was very clean and the server Alena was cleaning on down time. Although they were about an hour away from closing. The mustard and ketchup bottles were clear of old dried up stuff. You can tell they keep things well kept.
Service: Good. Servers were attentive without being intrusive. Took a minute to take my order, but not long. Food came out at a reasonable time, beers came instantly. All servers seemed polite and professional.
Taste/presentation: I ordered calimari and it was probably the second best I've ever had (top spot to a place in Grass Valley). Each beer came with a lemon slice garnish. The calimari had a slight rosemary hint, which I really liked. Portion size was definitely good: I got full from an appetizer.
Value: 3 beers and calimari came out to about $28 less tip. It's a tad bit steep for me, however it's a fair price for good beer and awesome calimari. I had plans to go to another bar after and drink liquor but actually ended up staying at Sutter Buttes and opening another tab and kept drinking. I recommend the Hefeweizen.
I really have a hard time coming up with anything negative to say about this place. Service is great, food is awesome, beer was amazing, it's clean, the servers are nice and they play good music. Look out Marcello's, I might have a new...
Read moreWe have been loyal customers to this restaurant, even through the pandemic—spending $100+ every visit with 6 people; however tonight was the kicker—we won’t return for a long time. Our last two visits were slight insights into the experience tonight, that things have been headed down hill and tonight we got to the bottom. It started with a sticky table, a promise of waters never delivered, straws never received, warm drink complaint, never remedied and then it just continued to head south. We waited 50+ minutes for dinner to be delivered with no drink refills offered. And then a kids pizza was arrived to sit without any other food on the table for 10 minutes. The rest FINALLY arrived and the next starving child proceeded to eat midway into his burger to find it unacceptably raw. So the rest of us nibbled at our food using RUNNING ranch dressing (over-cooked fishnchips, the standard wedge salad—always good she said and 2 prime rib sandwiches that seemed fine) waiting for the burger that returned with no fries—when it was sent back with fries. He gobbled a few bites and we called it. So needless to say a very disappointing experience.
As I said indicators had been noticed prior—we always make reservations—did on yet another such busy night, as we did tonight and were sat right away as we were tonight, thankfully, BUT then—nobody not a soul looked at us that evening—including the owner cleaning the table beside us—for 20 over minutes. Nobody said a thing to us and then they proceeded to rush our food only to get again burned fish and chips and many other haphazards.
I hate to bash local, but service has really depleted and food quality gone in the toilet.

Read moreMy family and I just left there tonight after our Daughter ate uncooked fish. She absolutely loved the fish and chips at Sutter Buttes and was so excited to go out and have dinner the day before her 13th Birthday. Dinner, unfortunately, was quickly ruined. Exposing our Daughter to potential food poisoning was not the way we envisioned dinner going and I suppose we'll have to check her fish anytime she orderes it elsewhere from now on. Our server was fantastic, not at all her fault, but told us the kitchen times each fish order in the fryer based on their old fish portion sizes and since the new fish is much thicker, so they don't know how long to cook it still. She said the Kitchen manager was going to reach out to the distributor like that helped us in some way. We had to ask for and eventually did speak to the owner who was on site (Scott) who was a real jerk. He said he had no idea raw fish was exposed to one of his customers because he was making pizzas, he wasn't at all concerned our Daughter had ingested raw seafood (due to a serious mistake in HIS kitchen) and told us we shouldn't worry because we basically could eat the entire fish raw and not have any chance of getting food poising. No apology, no concern for our Daughter safety and his obtuse response was like nothing I'veever seen. I'll never return after Scott's absolutely unconcerned, rude and unprofessional response to a serious mistake made in his kitchen. That's not at all how an owner should treat a customer ever. We also supported them during the pandemic, but tonight's visit was unbelievable and extremely...
