The Happy Viking — Restaurant in Yuba City

Came on a weekend afternoon as a party of 4. Had to loop the street as the parking is minimal and there are many businesses within walking distance. There is a consistent amount of foot traffic.

We ordered appetizers that took 30 minutes to arrive. The cheese for the pretzel tasted terrible and had a funky aroma. It’s not your traditional nacho cheese sauce as they add some seasonings that in my opinion ruined the sauce.

As for our meals, they never came. The restaurant was not busy as there were at least a dozen empty tables. There is plenty of seating by the way. We waisted for an hour after our order went in to ask our waitress if there was an issue. Well we couldn’t do that because we hadn’t seen her since the appetizers came out. We looked around aimlessly at all of the wall decor just waiting patiently and trying to be respectful.

After some time our waitress finally returns and I’m sure she could tell by the looks on our faces and our empty table that things weren’t going well. That is when I overheard her speaking to another waitress asking why our table didn’t have any food. Apparently, she was on a break of some sort and asked someone else to take over her table. For some reason there was a miscommunication and our order was never put in. They exchanged a few unpleasantries and parted ways.

We waited for a few minutes for our waitress to address us but after 10 minutes, we just decided to leave. We figured that she was going to try and rush our order in instead of just coming to our table explaining what happened and giving us the choice to choose whether we wanted to continue waiting or not. Waiting almost 2 hours for our meals while watching other people be served was frustrating enough, but the worst part was the complete lack of decency of the waitress. We left cash on the table for the appetizers and walked out the door.

Oh and for some strange reason people come here in costumes just for fun. Yes grown men and women playing dress up in a restaurant in the middle of the day. It appears it’s encouraged by the business as it goes with their theme but really it was tacky and not what any civilized person would call family friendly. It wasn’t Halloween, there wasn’t a contest, nothing. Just adults in distasteful outfits and ugly makeup who somehow find people just like them to act out their fantasies in public with.

I’m sure it’s obvious by now but we will certainly not be returning or...

Absolute worst experience i’ve ever had at a restaurant. my family loves this place but this particular night is making us never return. we had a reservation for 6:00 and got there right then and were seated immediately. it takes 40 minutes to order drinks and then our waitress says she’ll be back to take our food order. yet she never came back… instead around 7:05(over an hour after we got there) a new waitress came around and said she’ll was taking over— i told we had been waiting over an hour to order our food and she was appalled and felt terrible. she immediately took our food order and was very on top of things. and yet things continued to go downhill. we then didn’t get our food till 8:15 over an hour after we ordered. and i get it the kitchen gets backed up but we were never told why things were taking so long. once we finally got our food it all looked like it was slapped together frantically and missing garlic fries and sauces. we finally had had it after we had been there over two hours and barely just got our food. so i ask to speak to the manager. the girl seemed super nervous and ran around looking for the manager. once we finally met the manager and expressed our concerns she did not care. i wasn’t looking for any compensation but simply wanted her to know how our table was handled this evening and get an apology. she seemed pissed off and didn’t even care just said okay and walked away, we never saw her again. the worst was that this was a birthday dinner and we told them three different times that we wanted the birthday girl to be sang to but that once again did not happen. honestly we couldn’t wait to get out of there, and finally get to our event an hour late. The service was absolutely terrible and without the manager giving one crap we definitely won’t be...

I very rarely review places... and quite honestly I hate saying anything negative about a place. But with as many tries as I have given this place, and believe me there have been many. They can never seem to get it right. Out of the 4 people in my family, I am always the one to order something other than wings (I don't like chicken on the bone) and every time it is my order that comes out wrong and last.

The staff is always very nice about it and says all the right things. But the issue persists. And there is never any sort of compensation for the issue... not that I want monetary compensation, but it is a hassle having my entire family wait for my food to be served after they have finished theirs... and yes I mean finished.

Tonight for example. I ordered a club sandwich (note, I ordered this 10 min after the wing order was put in because I met my family there). It came well after the wings my husband and children had ordered... to the point where they were either done, or had a max of 2 wings left. When it came to me, the fries were cold and there was no bacon on the sandwich. Normally I wouldn't care, but the fact that a club sandwich took over 45min to serve was too much for me.

I want to like this place, I really do. They have a fantastic selection of beers and a really great vibe. Their kitchen just ruins it, and their policy on mess ups really needs to...
