The offerings provided by Luna Sourdough Bakery is a necessity in your life! From Thursday through Sunday, this extraordinary bakery creates some of the most delicious breads, pastries, and sandwiches I’ve ever tasted in my life. They use quality organic ingredients and the owners/chefs simply have great taste and a depth of experience that is apparent upon your first bite. The focaccia bread here is so incredibly delicious. Buy 2 full loaves and eat it throughout the week. I love two different vegan/plant-based sandwiches that are on their menu which are made with the focaccia as well. One gourmet sandwich is made with a homemade chickpea hummus salad along with marinated onions and roasted red bell peppers. My other favorite is a new heirloom tomato variation that is so moist and savory. They speak my love language here! Every detail is just right! Their standards and practices have truly elevated bread baking! Simple things done with reverence and care. I can’t say enough about this place and the mom and pop who create this epicurean magic. While many men are thinking about the Roman Empire, I am thinking about Luna Sourdough Bakery. Remember this bakery before going to your next dinner party or group gathering. Sure, a bottle of wine is nice but bringing a few loaves of bread from Luna is such an incredibly special gesture that everyone will delight in and give thanks!
Side note: Proper coffee is served here. Some vegan/plant-based and gluten-free options are available. Everything is...
Read moreOh my.. Delicious! I've tried the bread, several pantries, and the coffee.
I've been here 3 times. This last time, the coffee was lukewarm, therefore bitter. I purchased a loaf of bread, 2 pastries, and 1 coffee. These items came to $35. Pricy, but maybe it's worth it.
The time before that, there were several people in line. I only needed bread, which is help-yourself as it is on a bakers rack as you walk in. Other people in line were placing orders over-the-counter such as sandwiches, etc. I got my bread and walked up to the register. I was told by their employee that I needed to get in line. That is ridiculous that anyone who has their order in hand (the bread) should stand in a line behind people placing orders then wait while those orders are prepared and then purchased before I can pay for a loaf. I was mortified with the scolding as it's not in my nature to jump ahead of people. My intention was innocent as it seemed proper to move forward to the register.
This place is very casual with a few tables available both...
Read moreStopped by this bakery today on my way to hike. I am a French man in Joshua tree for a friends bday. Picked up some plain croissants and some almond ones. The almond ones were a bit too much going on for me. Very thick doughy center with overload of almonds on the top. The croissant is very ambitious but too big and too thick to get into it really. Flavor was ok but far from a real French almond croissant. Also lacking the buttery richness. Plain croissant was ok but again not as buttery as in Paris style punch. And sadly the prices here are INSANE. 12 bucks for the almond---no thanks. you have to blow my mind to be worth that price. and it didn't!!! The cinnamon rolls looked good, but not for 15 bucks. I passed on those when I saw I was being charged 12 bucks for the almond croissant. Come on people!!! be kind. This is Joshua Tree where people like me come out to find a center. Shouldn't be hitting our wallets this hard. Sorry but this...
