Western Diner Yucca Valley — Restaurant in Yucca Valley

Just dined at the Western Diner. Overall food was horrible, Ordered the Chilaques Verde, when I got my food, it was smothered in red sauce, no flavor. How do you serve red sauce when the menu clearly said green? Didn’t complain because the almost 40 minute wait for the food was not worth sending the food back, The tortillas for the chileaques was horrible, they used flour, which make it worse, the red sauce tasted very tomato-ey. My boyfriend had the classic club wrap which was a cold green tortilla, hardly any chicken instead of bacon they used bacon bits stacked with more lettuce, that it should have been called a lettuce wrap. The side of fruit he got as his side, very mushy and not ripe. He was not pleased with his meal either. We were a party of 8, and besides the hash browns, fries and drinks we ordered were the only things that were decent enough. No one in out party enjoyed their meal. My son ordered a root beer and it was watered down. We waitress was very rude in the beginning didn’t appreciate her attitude when my boyfriend asked for a refill of water. The price for all the meals, because my boyfriend paid was so not worth the overpriced food. Their food was horrible never again will we dine here again. Truly a waste of a $120 dollars plus a tip. Please think twice about eating here. I wouldn’t recommend it. Your better off eating at jack in the box...

Five star isn't a high enough for this gem of a place in yucca. 8 can't believe it's been in business 3 years and I haven't heard about it !!! I want to eat here every day . We went to try the prime rib and from the moment you walk in you feel the warm welcome of the place . Say immediately and from start to finish the service was impeccable. The food was incredible .I swear my Granny was back there in the kitchen. The prime rib was HUGE and perfectly cooked and so tender ! had .the salsbury / chopped steak with mushroom gravy that was absolutely rich and flavorful and loaded with mushrooms . You could tell the meat was freshly prepared to order. And REAL mashed ! Lumps and all !! . Honestly the best restaurant I've dined at in years .

And let me tell you about the dessert! Individual upside down cakes drizzled with warm chocolate topped with whip cream and a cherry. . I had a mouth orgasm at the first bite. The food was pretty good 4/5, I had the Grilled Cheese and the Breakfast Wet Burrito, and I enjoyed both! The fries were a little greasy, but my friend took them home and liked them. The burger was well-liked too!

Overall, it was a nice spot for a diner-style place. The food came out fast, and it was clean. The only downside was the service (this day). The server may have been having an off day, but she came across as a bit short and not very friendly when taking orders. For example, my friend ordered home fries and fruit as a side, but when her food came out, they were missing. It wasn't a huge deal to her at all and she politely mentioned it, and the server responded with something like, “Actually, you just ordered fruit, but I’ll add that on." in a tone that felt a little unnecessarily annoyed.

We also overheard the same server speaking and gesturing to a younger staff member looking very annoyed, saying “Open your eyes!!” loud enough that a few people looked up. Again, might have just been an off day. I...
