While visiting the Indianapolis area, my friend took me to this nice restaurant in Zionsville for a late lunch (open until 3pm). She said there are various locations of this cafe throughout the area, but this is her favorite. And I can see why. It is a quaint cafe with seating inside and out. It is very clean and welcoming.
First, hats off to the staff that afternoon. Kyle, the Manager, greeted us, asked us if we wanted to sit inside or out (we chose outside) and chatted with us as he brought us to the table. We had further fun conversations with him later in the day. Speaking of fun, Caci, our server hit on all cylinders! She was engaging, a great conversationist and provided outstanding service. She made the afternoon that much more enjoyable.
Now, the food. We ordered from the Omelette side of the menu and we both decided on "The Hippie and the Benz". It consisted of spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms and feta cheese. The taste was amazing! The eggs were so fresh - probably the freshest I've tasted anywhere! Kyle said they obtain their eggs from local farmers. I would have sworn the chickens who laid the eggs were within the confines of the restaurant itself; they were that fresh. The omelettes come with a side of mild sourdough, vegan multigrain or whole wheat toast and a side of lightly dressed arugula. The toast slices are thick and huge. Everything complemented each other perfectly. I also ordered a Lavendar Mimosa which hit the spot.
Definitely will be back next time I'm in the Zionsville area. The locals love this place also given the number of 5-star reviews for this cafe. You cannot go wrong when the locals talk up...
Read moreBeing a regular patron at Patachou, I was very excited to try the cafe at Zionsville. The cafe is located in the village which is a very upscale area right beside Lions park. It was a rather busy day at Lions park today which led us to wait for 40 mins for a 1 pm lunch. This is something I do not relate to. No automated, advance booking mechanism with such a high drive of crowds at any given time. The show stopper was Phat Rabbit today - veggie filling on a vegan sandwich. The flavors were robust and the portion was so filling, yet the right taste and spice (vegan spinach jalapeño pesto). The chocolate pistachio cookie (made with pistachio flour) was a massive disappointment. The chocolate flavor was so overpowering that I didn’t know the pistachio existed. 1* off for the hype, and so didn’t meet my expectations. Parking can be a mess on weekends. Mostly street or grab as you drive. Outdoor seating is amazing and pretty! Staff is exhausted and worn out at 1 after a massively busy Sunday. They try to rush you into ordering, extra orders and check. Definitely can look at a better plan for busy days. It wasn’t totally on par or...
Read moreOkay, I dont like to just shoot down places too much but come on.... The food is stupidly priced vs portion size and especially under seasoned and basic. Even asking tables next to us say the food is always just ok. Well for $15 getting 2 small eggs in some canned marinara and some not tasting like sourdough bread bread and some 4th grade made cinnamon toast, OK this just doesn't cut it.
Food was meh, under seasoned, small portions to price and probably the most disappointing I've had due to our expectations after reading the ratings. But then again I forget people here in the Hendricks area love to rate mediocrity above what it should be because their taste buds haven't been outside their bubbles.
Service was fine...
Usually I give places a third chance but this isn't for us. People of indiana deserve better than all the over priced basic places upcharging them just because they are clueless about what flavor is.
Yeah this place pissed me off...
