Read moreI don’t love leaving bad reviews because I understand restaurants can have bad days but given the pricing and how awful the experience was, I felt it was necessary.
My partner and I had a reservation for Valentine’s Day and as soon as we walked in, we knew we were in for trouble. We waited an additional 20 minutes after coming in for our reservation to be sat. Clearly the employees looked overwhelmed so we didn’t mind the wait. The table setup was cute and the champagne was delicious. Once we were sat, it took over 20 minutes to get our appetizer. When we get our apps, my crab was grey and my partner’s coquille tasted terrible. We both took a few bites and were done. We reminded the server of the wine we ordered hoping to focus on that and were immediately disappointed with the quality. Their Italian Pinot Grigio was some Americanized wine that was $10/bottle (they charged $40).
Another 30 minutes go by until we get our lobster bisque. Every bite was crunchy due to, I assume, pieces of shell or something and the lobster tasted very chewy. We both took a few bites and were done.
We are about 90 minutes into being there, we are starving, and our entrees come out. My sea bass was so dry and flavorless, and it was clear it was somehow sitting under a hot lamp for a long time despite everyone around us waiting so long for every course. I needed a knife to cut through it. My partner’s lamb was nearly burnt and there was barely any meat (they looked like cake pops). We both ate barely anything.
At this point, we mention it to our server who immediately says we will get a discount (everyone around us seemed to be complaining). Our desserts were fine enough so we ate as much as we could tolerate because we were so hungry.
While it’s clear that management set up the employees for failure with how everything was structured, there were other inherent issues that make me question the quality of this place. The wine options (you would assume a French restaurant would have a great selection) and the fact they were okay sending out food that was terrible makes me hesitant to ever come back. Even with a discount, we still spent nearly $200 and had to grab food on the way home because we ate so little. This place is just too expensive to be operating in this way when incredible places like Tinker Street, Bluebeard, Milktooth, etc. exist in this city. It was such a...
Read moreMothers Day nightmare! If zero starts were an option I would select that option. My husband planned a Mother's Day brunch at Auberge and booked a reservation days in advance. Our family of six arrived and were placed in a back overflow room, although there was plenty of seating. Everything that you can imagine went wrong: took over 30 min to get water, 1 hour before the waitress took our order, most items were out and/or no longer offered but still on the menu, you dine at a French restaurant but have to order bacon, eggs and toast, waitresses were having breakdowns in the back of the restaurant, manager was MIA and not there to support the employees, general manager quit a couple weeks prior, etc. All of this I could possibly get over if the manager that was on duty would have made her rounds and apologized or even greeted guest by saying we are having some issues we recommend that you dine somewhere else. Turning patrons away would have been a far better experience. This is clearly not a manager issue. This is an ownership problem. Zionsville is a beautiful town that prides itself in it's wonderful restaurants and downtown appeal. This is not an establishment that should be in a place like Zionsville. There was a lady that asked to speak to a manager, I overheard her telling the manager that she made reservations weeks ago and brought her out of town guest with her to dine at Auberge. What an awful experience for out of town guest to have of Zionsville. I am in search of finding out who the owner is because this was...
