I've never been so disgusted by a proprieter of an establishment... Passing through town we stopped for dinner at the Tipsy Mermaid.. Nice looking little place.. Only thing.. The food is awful.. I mean.. Not just bad but I seriously thought there was something rancid or spoiled.. The waitress was very nice and apologetic and I ordered something else.. Once again.. Just gross, not rotten like I think the 1st dish was, just horrible flavors combined with odd spices. Didn't sit right on my stomach, so I dunno if it was bad or just bad... Anyway... Nobody at our table was enjoying the meal, we joked about how we shoukd have just ordered pizza... Then we overheard a woman, who we later found out was the owner, using vulger language and disparaging a nice young couple dining near us using racial slurs.. She was laughing about it with another person, but we found it to be in very bad taste.. We were appalled and after learning she was the owner, asked the waitress about her... Well, from what we learned, this owner has two completely different sides.. According to the waitress, she's awful to the staff.. But nice to the customers faces.. Only to insult them later in private.. Or not so private as we overheard.. Lets just say, hearing the Hard-R used more than once, like it's the 60s in mississippi, was hard to believe... Before we left she thanked us for dining and hoped we would be back.. Big smiles.. So fake.. Wonder what she was saying about us?? Not a chance we will return.. She was friendly to our faces... Tipsy Mermaid needs some lessons in decency.. And cooking.. We also learned that the establishment just recently started allowing kids in the restaurant... Thats right.. It was adults only until a few months ago.. I hear the patrons weren't happy about that either.. Nothing about this place would make it "adults only".. So a family couldn't all go to dinner together... Why?? So thats just weird. Makes you wonder how they stay in business.. what's going on here?? No kids allowed.. They do little to conceal their abhorrent racist positions.. Or didn't seem to mind people hearing/overhearing their tasteless jokes.. Food is nasty and too expensive.. Cost $200 to get food poisoning and hear the owner doing her best Louis CK stand up/60s down south racist rant.. No thanks.. I recommend skipping this one.. If for no other reason, just because the ownership seems to not be very good people... She left a very bad impression on us.. Other than that, nice little town.. I see by the other bad reviews, we're not the only ones...

Prepare yourself for the grand unveiling of the Tipsy Mermaid Conch House & Cocktails, where a father-son duo inadvertently became the stars of a slapstick saga on the restaurant's opening day.
Our protagonists, armed with cameras instead of cutlasses, embarked on a quest to document the grandeur of this maritime marvel. Little did they know, their choice to observe the festivities from the public sidewalk would turn the grand opening into a grand un-opening.
As the dynamic duo set up their cameras, eagerly awaiting the spectacle, the mermaid-themed staff, clearly not well-versed in the art of public photography appreciation, decided to dial the photography police – yes, they exist in this whimsical tale.
Cue the arrival of the photo police, who, instead of capturing criminals, found themselves in the midst of a shutterbug showdown. The business, suspecting the duo of espionage, tried to commandeer the public sidewalk, blissfully unaware that it was, indeed, public property.
As the duo tried to explain their right to document the spectacle from the sacred grounds of the public sidewalk, the staff, in a fit of mermaid-themed madness, insisted they leave. It was a comedy of errors worthy of a Hollywood blockbuster – only with more confusion and fewer explosions.
In the end, the police left with a camera full of unintentional selfies, the business reconsidered its approach to public sidewalk management, and the father and son? Well, they left with a memory card full of laughter and the satisfaction of knowing that, in the grand un-opening saga, they were the true stars of the show.
So, if you're in the mood for a tale of grand openings gone grandly awry, head on over to this Tipsy Mermaid establishment. Just remember to bring your camera – you might unintentionally become the next leading act in their comedy of...
