So often people take a bad moment or tough circumstance and write a horrible review to “taint” another patron’s experience for a future visit.
That happened to me yesterday. Instead, I took the time to rate Convivio with 5 Stars in hopes that they’ll read my review and think next time about trying to be better.
Yesterday I had ordered food from Noah Grants and came around the northwest corner to park. The navigation said I was at my location. Downtown Zionsville doesn’t have many parking lots, so along the streets right there is the only option.
I parked in front of the store next to Convivio. I jumped out of the car and realized that Grants was actually across the street. I’m out of the car and across the street on my way to grab the boil we pre-ordered and paid for when I realize I’m in half of one of their three carry out spots. It was an honest mistake and my fault. At that moment I could have taken the time to go back to the car, drive around and find another spot. I didn’t. I apologize for that. There’s no excuse, I just had an extremely tough day and knew I would be quick. There was no one in their spaces, nor did a car ever pull in during my two minutes parked there.
As I’m on my way back, their manager or employee came out upset and wanted to make a point. He angrily asked me to not do that again. In so many words, he was very perturbed and wanted to take some frustration out on me. I sincerely apologized over and over. On his way back he was talking about me to one of his employees, as though he was proud of putting me in my place.
I understand privilege and how people can often times be extremely inconsiderate. This was an honest mistake, made by a person who is not very familiar with downtown Zionsville. There’s a way to approach someone that did what I did and as a business owner myself, if an employee or manager of mine ever talked to anyone that way while representing my business, there’d be the need for an immediate re-training session.
We’ve actually been to Convivio before and it’s a shame this happened, because I have no desire to go back. That being said, this review was not to deter anyone from going, by all means I think you should try them out. The review was to help the gentleman that was so frustrated with me to think about how you approach a situation like that next time.
Good luck to Convivio coming back after the pandemic and a Happy Mother’s Day to...
Read moreWe walked in at 7:15 tonight noticing many open tables to ask about being sat for dinner and the host said they aren’t taking walkins. I walk outside make a reservation via Resy (mistakenly for 2 instead of 5) and call to see about being immediately sat and walk back in and told it will be 10-15 min so I ask the on duty front end manager why we weren’t able to be sat as a walk-in but we can as a reservation in 10-15 when there’s plenty of tables open…and he said they weren’t taking walkins and I said well as a former restaurant manager that doesn’t make sense if you’re still taking reservations but not walkins (yet plenty of open tables) and I said okay we are going to go elsewhere and he got extremely aggressive and said “are you serious” and started arguing with me. I wasn’t even arguing I was just pointing out that didn’t make sense but he wanted to defend his illogical stance. I’m sorry sir but on a Sunday night with plenty of time before close and 10+ tables open (mind you, you can put together two two tops and add a seat on an end to make 5 and still have several open tables) I’m sure your servers would like to make a 30%+ tip on an easy table but because of your poor management and attitude to a loyal customer I will no longer return. We had my grandpas funeral luncheon at the Carmel location earlier this summer due to my recommendation but I will not...
Read moreFood was excellent but it was overshadowed by awful service! We’ve been waiting to try this place for a special occasion, so we went for our anniversary, which was also in the reservation, but they didn’t acknowledge it.
When we arrived, they wouldn’t acknowledge that we had reservations for outside seating even though there was plenty of space outside, they wouldn’t let us sit outside. We were seated inside and the host didn’t tell us about the scan code to access the menu so we sat there being confused. The waiter came over and asked if we had time to review menu and we told him no, we clearly didn’t have a menu. The server was helpful helping us pick items, but they didn’t bring out second plate for us to share our salad, which we requested. We had to eat off the same plate in the middle of the table which wasn’t ideal. The server brought out the wrong food to my husband and the server joked about it. He never brought his right food, then charged us for the meal we ordered, but didn’t get which was significantly more than what he got. Server never came back to pickup our check, another server sensed my frustration and came and ran the card for us.
When spending over $100 for a meal for two people, I expect a much higher level of service. It’s too bad that the awful service overshadowed...
