This was the most astonishing experience I’ve ever had at an establishment. The service was fine at first, the host was welcoming and the server was friendly (at first). I ordered choriqueso for myself and my daughter and it was extremely bland but I wasn’t going to make a fuss. My fiancé decided to send it back because he didn’t like it either, it was completely flavorless. The “manager/owner” comes out and says that we have to pay half price for the item, my fiancé let him know we only had two bites and sent it back so that didn’t make sense. The “manager/owner” begins to get extremely hostile and rude with my fiancé and says we can pay for our drinks and leave which was fine because we were both shocked by how rude he was. The (previously nice) red headed waitress then comes back and says that we need to know what we want to eat next time and that the choriqueso tasted fine to her and that she has to pay for the items if they’re sent back. I’ve never heard of a restaurant having this policy, it’s crazy if they actually do, but then she continues berating us about the fact that we sent the item back and that she doesn’t care because she has the money to pay for it. She then tells us that our total is $40 for two margaritas. When I questioned her on how it became so much she got flustered and wasn’t able to continue the conversation. Another waiter came over and apologized for the experience and offered to compensate our drinks (which were actually $23) if we decided to stay for dinner. We did not. I’m not sure why or how the “manager/owner” thought it was a good idea to be so rude and indignant about us not wanting to pay $11 for food we didn’t eat to then later offer to compensate our ($23)...

El Toro is hands down one of my favorite restaurants, and it’s easy to see why. The menu offers an incredible variety of options, and every dish I’ve tried has been absolutely delicious. Some of my top picks include the Boss Burrito and the Alambres—both are packed with flavor and will have you coming back for more.

But what really makes El Toro stand out is the staff. Many of the servers have been there for years – some even for 7-10 years – and it feels like they’re more like family than anything else. They go above and beyond to make you feel special and even bring my favorite drink to me before I’ve even had the chance to order it. The level of friendliness and attentiveness is unmatched, and it’s clear that they genuinely care about their customers.

My kids have literally grown up at El Toro. Two of them even worked there for a while while they were in school! Over the years, I’ve seen them treat me like a VIP, but if I had to pick one server who stands out, it would be Adela. She’s been a part of our lives for about 10 years now, and her warm welcome and genuine care for our family make every visit even more enjoyable.

The authentic Mexican food is amazing, and the atmosphere is welcoming and vibrant. Plus, the staff often helps me practice my Spanish – it’s such a wonderful experience all around.

If you’re looking for a fantastic dining experience, I highly recommend El Toro. It’s not just a place to eat; it’s a place where memories are made, and you’ll quickly see why it has become one of my...

William’s Take on El Toro, Zionsville

El Toro in Zionsville is nothing short of a gem! From the moment you walk in, the inviting atmosphere sets the tone for an exceptional dining experience. The food? Absolutely fantastic—each dish is crafted with fresh ingredients and bold flavors that leave a lasting impression. But what truly elevates the experience is their beyond-great drink selection, perfectly complementing every meal.

Service here is top-notch. The staff is attentive, friendly, and genuinely invested in making sure every guest has a great time. Whether you’re dining in, grabbing a drink, or looking for a reliable catering option for your business, El Toro delivers excellence across the board. Highly recommend this spot for anyone craving great food, exceptional drinks, and impeccable service!

Forgot to show some of the drinks I would have had but have a Doctors note not to drink sorry that will be a next time review. But from previous occasions there known for great margaritas with your choice of tequila and my favorite drink is the Paloma besides beer,

Almost forgot I was there for my birthday 2/22 and had a blast...

There are a lot of things to love about this place. We just left there after our first visit and, I've got to say, it was a great experience. 1) our server was awesome. He cared about us having a good experience. In fact, from what I saw, the staff was extremely well trained and worked with each other extremely well. 2) the food was excellent. I asked our server what he liked to eat (something I do a lot) and his recommendation was off the chain. Carnitas Mochenos (I know I'm misspelling that) and they were OUTSTANDING. Both my wife and daughter had very tasty dishes as well 3) for signing up to their texts, you get $4 off a $20+ first order. I gave that as an additional tip. 4) the prices are very competitive while the serving sizings are above average. TRY THIS PLACE!

I had nachos supremos and it was decent. The enchiladas weren't filled very full and the corn tortillas had a funky texture. Everything tasted fine though; just wasn't the best I've had. Everyone else loved what they ordered. The service was great and the Thirsty Thursday $6 margaritas were fun. There was dry ice which made a cool smokey effect that was fun and entertaining for everyone at the table.

Good food but not as rowdy as the downtown Indy location. They have really good specialty drinks too. Be prepared to wait on the weekends as they must not have enough kitchen staff. We waited nearly an hour after placing our order which would have been ok if the food was all hot. It was luke warm to cold. Sent a couple things back for heat. The portions are nice too!
