A Warm Welcome and Memorable Meal at GANG YU in Danang
The hospitality I’ve experienced on my first trip to Danang has been nothing short of heartwarming, and the service at GANG YU certainly upheld that standard.
We dined July 18th at 5:30 PM without a reservation. My daughter, who is almost three years old, had fallen asleep in the taxi. Carrying her into the restaurant, I was immediately impressed by the staff’s attentiveness. They went above and beyond to ensure she could rest comfortably, even fetching toys and balloons to gently wake her up so I could enjoy my meal. The manager, who greeted us warmly and spoke Mandarin, even provided chair cushion risers to make my kids more comfortable. This level of care truly showcased the best of Vietnamese hospitality.
We opted for the all-you-can-eat hotpot, priced at VND 300,000 per person, with my almost five-year-old son charged a fraction of that at VND 80,000. The food arrived promptly and in generous portions. While the sauces were delightful and the soup base quite satisfactory, the quality of some items left room for improvement. The “raw tender beef pieces” were disappointingly tough and chewy, and the fresh clams we ordered tasted a bit off, leading us to set them aside after the initial taste. However, the pork belly, beef briskets, and beef slices were good value for the price.
Overall, the experience at GANG YU was defined by its exceptional service. The ambiance was cute and inviting, and while the food had its ups and downs, the warmth and hospitality of the staff made the visit memorable.
Our total bill came to around VND 700,000, a very reasonable price for a satisfying meal. I extend my heartfelt thanks to the service team and the manager for making my first hotpot experience in Danang truly...
Read moreVisited this restaurant because the google review was good. However, the entire experience was not what we expected. Food wise, it was average. Nothing spectacular. The entire experience was bad, mainly due to customer service. We had to repeat our requests several time before they attended to us. There was no initiative from staffs such as offering to refill the soup. Lastly, the most negative experience was that customers were smoking in the restaurant. We had informed the staff that the customers beside our tables are smoking and requested to change seats. Instead of changing seats, the staff went to talk to the smokers. Not sure what did the staff told the smokers. They stopped smoking and gave us a few stares. However, after 15 minutes or so, they started smoking again and no action was taken by the staff. It was definitely a negative experience eating hotpot with a lot of smokers around you and nothing was done by the staff. If you are expecting non smoking environment or good service, this is not a...
Read moreTonight we came here for dinner and ordered hotpot. Our table was right next to the kitchen, and when one of the dishes (pate ball) was brought out, the waitress noticed it didn’t look right. She handed it to the chef, who looked at it for a while, hesitated, and didn’t seem sure either. In the end, they gave it back to us to put into the hotpot. For me, that was already a bad sign – the dish had a strange color and smell, so we decided not to touch it at all.
The next problem was with the glass – I was given a glass that was dirty on the inside. There was a lot of residue, which mixed into the water, and it was clearly visible. Only after I pointed it out did they automatically replace it with a clean glass and fresh water.
What surprised me the most was that they charged 5,000 VND for wet tissues, even though they had already been placed on the table. In most places these are free, but here they charged for them separately. The amount is small, but it’s the principle that matters.
Overall, it was quite...
