I was invited to this restaurant by a friend of mine. The place is located on a quiet street in the center of the city. My first impression is that the place is quite spacious, yet they made it quite cozy and warm, not like other Japanese restaurant. we came around 7pm so it was busy and crowded, but the queue was not so long. less than 5 minutes waiting. They sat us down next to the window. this is probably the best spot since you can see the whole restaurant and the street view. The staff is very friendly, some can speak English, other don't but you can easily get by by pointing pictures in menu or gg translate. Yes they have English menu. This is a different kind of Japanese restaurant that I used to frequent in Da Nang. they serve yakitori which is grilled skews of assorted veggie and meats. it is quite tasty. I love chicken gizzard and pork belly the most. They also have sashimi and other small dishes. you must try their ramen. It is the best ramen I ever had in Da Nang. It may not look so exquisite like ramen in other place but its flavor is exceptional. On top of that, I was shocked with the price of all the food here. They are extremely affordable. I never went to any Japanese restaurant that serves food this good for such a price. Skews are from 9k to 22k. Most dishes are from 40-80k. All in all, this restaurant is a great addition to the Japanese food scene in Da Nang. I would definitely come back here when craving for...
Read moreUmi Izakaya in Da Nang captures the heart of Japanese dining—warm, intimate, and full of flavor. Stepping inside feels like slipping into a cozy Tokyo alleyway izakaya, where the lighting is soft, the sake flows, and every dish is made to be shared and savored.
The menu is packed with izakaya classics: tender yakitori, crisp tempura, rich miso-glazed fish, and perfectly balanced sushi and sashimi. Each dish is executed with care, highlighting the natural flavors of the ingredients without overcomplicating things. Their grilled items especially shine—smoky, juicy, and served piping hot straight from the charcoal.
The drink list is just as thoughtful, with a solid range of sake, Japanese whiskey, and ice-cold beers that pair effortlessly with the food. The staff are welcoming and attentive, always ready with a recommendation or a quick chat that makes the experience feel personal.
If you’re in Da Nang and looking for a place that combines the relaxed energy of a neighborhood izakaya with top-quality Japanese cuisine, Umi Izakaya is the spot. It’s comfort, culture, and...
Read moreA satisfyingly pleasant experience. Was kinda impressed by how the restaurant looks from the outside and inside as well. Overall I'd give this a 9. I've been to quite a lot of izakaya restaurants to safely say this one is definitely one of those most decent places that is worth recommending. I tried their skewers, such a simple dish but they were straight up delishhh fr. I kept ordering more and more that I could barely eat anything else (while the menu is pretty diverse tho) 😂 best to enjoy these with their sake and apricot wine, which seems to be their signature. Prices and portions to me are reasonable and comparable to other similar places. The place was a bit crowded when I visited which is totally fine as it's how an izakaya should be, good thing is the staff still managed to properly serve and keep the guests attended. Hope they keep it this way for a little while so I can frequent to satisfy my cravings and also to not have to think about where to hang out with my friends. 👍 They have much potential to be more...
