This is one of those Hidden Gems that no one talks about but everyone knows! What a superb experience we had yesterday. We used to dine here often, around 10 years ago, and after returning to Hanoi we were delighted to find that PePe La Poule was still as great as ever. As well as the very gentle and personable owner/chef, Mr Yu, the staff of this restaurant could not be more exceptional. The respect that they have for each other, and the hospitality process, was a pleasure to watch and experience. This level of professionalism stems well beyond simple "training", and deep into what must be a very carefully nurtured family culture. Well done everyone! The food was also just so full of flavour, beautifully contructed in a way that makes every mouthful just delicious!! We will be back here again, as often as we used to be, even moreso now with the great renovations too! Thank you Mr Yu and team, we DEFINITELY recommend this yummy modern, fusion style restaurant. (Also a thank you from our son, they have a great kids menu, and he was made to feel very welcome by the...
Read moreDelicious Asian fusion restaurant showcasing a lot of Japanese influences. Located on the shore of Ho Tay. Indoor and outdoor seating (on the roof, which is beautiful if the weather is good and the pollution is low). Cash, credit cards and probably e-wallet payments accepted. English spoken & menus also have English subtitles.
Great option for a higher-end dining experience when you want to spend a little more for extra service and food quality. Steaks, pasta, and a good cross-section of tapas means you're likely to find something for every taste in your dining party.
Seared ahi tuna is perfectly done, tender and flavorful served in a light sesame oil sauce drizzled underneath and the tuna is layered over some sauteed onions. Wonderful! The Lotus Root and Clam tapas is also flavorful but not quite as interesting in flavor profiles. Dumplings are tasty but ordinary.
Cocktails, beer, wine and fresh juices for drinks. You can spend a lot here but you don't...

While the 6th floor provides the most impressive vistas, the noisy groups of diners detract from the experience, though this isn't entirely the restaurant's fault. The service was notably problematic. My two main courses arrived 40 minutes after ordering, served at different times, and mysteriously after the tables seated following mine received their meals. The staff's wine knowledge was questionable - the waiter incorrectly claimed a white wine was more full-bodied than Chardonnay when it was closer in character to Sauvignon Blanc at best. The food quality was particularly disappointing. The crab Genovese pasta was essentially a soupy pesto sauce with what appeared to be meat from crustacean claws, hardly resembling the classic dish it...
