Sanuk Thai Restaurant — Restaurant in Hà Nội

A few days ago my friend told me he wants to go to Thailand for a holiday and he asked me if you think the food is good there? 🤔

Without hesitation, I decided to take him to a Thai restaurant not far from our house, on Tay Ho. I have passed by this restaurant several times now and have always wondered what the cuisine tastes like there. 😉

We ordered three different dishes (vegetable salad, Thai pasta with shrimp and meat). Two drinks and ice cream for dessert (special thanks for that). 🤤

I was allowed to enter the kitchen and see how the cooks are preparing. A couple of times I even got scared, because the fire from the frying pan soared straight up to the ceiling). If you want to see it, then in my video it is. 🎥

The place is clean, nothing to complain about, absolutely! Cozy, in the light of day, you don’t want to leave, you sit and watch how someone else’s life flows outside the window. 😀

The staff is kind and cheerful, they speak English and Vietnamese. This is a huge plus for foreigners and for this institution. ☝️

We asked for non-spicy food, which is strange for Thai cuisine, but we were lucky, the guys cooked it the way we wanted. It was delicious, especially for breakfast. 🥪

When my stomach was already full, ice cream was brought to us. So I ate it for a long time, and until the end, we had a special ingredient. I like it! 😎

I also checked the Wi-Fi on social networks, the speed is decent. There are chairs for children, I counted two! There is free parking. 💪

Thanks for the delicious food and service! We will come to you again! 🖤

P.s: the place is new, the guys have only been open for 5 months, so I recommend this restaurant. Quality worth the money! ✅

Today we visited Sanuk Thai Restaurant. If you love Thai cuisine, we do not recommend this place, as the food is far from authentic.

We appreciated that they made the papaya salad non-spicy upon request — thank you for that. However, the Tom Yum soup was disappointing. Although a small portion is listed on the menu, we were told it wasn’t available and had to order a large one. It was bland, watery, and contained only three unpeeled shrimp.

We waited 40 minutes for food and drinks, and even then, only 2 out of 4 dishes were served. The drinks were not impressive — the tea tasted like store-bought bottled tea, and the coconut water was warm. They forgot about the beer, and we had to remind them.

Only one napkin per person was provided at the table — which is unacceptable. There was no background music, and the restaurant was full and extremely noisy.

There was only one waiter for the entire restaurant, who struggled to manage and did not speak English — surprising, given the location near West Lake, an area popular with foreigners. In the kitchen, there was only one cook and one dishwasher.

When it came to the bill, the same server brought it and mistakenly charged us for a dish we never received (Pad Thai).

Both my husband and I agreed: we will never return to this restaurant. Despite good reviews and recommendations from friends who visited a year ago and had a great experience, our visit was truly disappointing.

Hôm nay chúng tôi đã ghé thăm Sanuk Thai Restaurant. Nếu bạn yêu thích ẩm thực Thái, thì chúng tôi không khuyến khích bạn đến đây, vì món ăn ở đây không hề mang hương vị Thái đích thực.

Chúng tôi cảm ơn vì nhà hàng đã làm gỏi đu đủ không cay theo yêu cầu. Tuy nhiên, món Tom Yum lại gây thất vọng. Dù trong thực đơn có phần nhỏ, nhưng nhân viên nói không có và chúng tôi buộc phải gọi phần lớn. Nước súp nhạt nhẽo, loãng và chỉ có 3 con tôm chưa bóc vỏ.

Chúng tôi phải chờ 40 phút mới có món ăn và nước uống, nhưng cũng chỉ có 2 trong số 4 món được mang ra. Nước uống không ấn tượng — trà giống như loại đóng chai bán trong siêu thị, nước dừa thì ấm, và họ quên mang bia, chúng tôi phải nhắc.

Trên bàn chỉ có mỗi người một khăn giấy — thật tệ. Không có nhạc nền, nhà hàng thì đông và rất ồn ào.

Chỉ có 1 nhân viên phục vụ cho cả nhà hàng đầy khách, anh ấy làm việc vất vả và không biết tiếng Anh, điều này thật đáng ngạc nhiên vì nhà hàng nằm gần Hồ Tây, nơi có nhiều người nước ngoài sinh sống. Trong bếp chỉ có 1 đầu bếp và 1 người rửa chén.

Khi thanh toán, cũng là cô phục vụ đó tính tiền và tính luôn cả món Pad Thai mà chúng tôi không hề nhận được.

Cả tôi và chồng tôi đều đồng ý rằng: chúng tôi sẽ không bao giờ quay lại nhà hàng này. Dù thấy nhiều đánh giá tốt và được bạn bè từng đến đây cách đây một năm giới thiệu, nhưng trải nghiệm lần này thật sự khiến chúng...

Have visited twice now, and both visits were absolutely outstanding. The best dishes were the green curry and the tom kha, both of which are extremely rich in coconut flavor compared to your typical place. Prices are not cheap, but well worth it for the quality.

EDIT JUNE 2025: Have visited many more times now, and while the food is always outstanding, not once have we ever had our order executed without mistakes. Every single time they forget dishes (including simple things like rice, bottled water, etc.). Very nice folks and excellent food, but their systems don't seem to be...
