This is a family home. Located few hundred meters from westside of westlake-hanoi. Property is in local housing community, so you get the local vibes all around. Amenities, stalls, hawkers are everywhere. Cafes too by the lake mostly. All within walking distance. Reachable using Hanoi Bus system from airport/bus terminal/train station/Old Quarter. Get a gojek rider or a cab is convenient as well.
A few dorms on upper floors for backpackers. Family vibe & super safe during my stay. With front gated porch to keep your motorcycle/bicycle.
Plenty of bathrooms & shower on 2 different floors (with burning hot tabs available with a twist). Dorm is spacious with multiple wooden doors which are little balcony. In my dorm, there are 4 bunk beds which are single sized & 2 bunks of queen sized beds. Thank you Mr Tung for assigning me on the bigger ones. Each bunk has its own wooden cabinet (with lock), wall points & reading lights. Bunks are well customised steel but expect some squeaky sound though. *only downside: dorm's balcony doors are not fully sealed when shut, expect some cold (my winter experience here were between 9°-15°c with strong winds daily)
Kitchen has pretty much everything you need for a simple meal. Induction cooker, water boiler & refrigerator as well. Spacious with dining table & chairs. Filtered water for direct consumption. *laundry is a paying-service here ya
Common areas are kitchen & lobby (front hall at reception) with multiple sections to read or do your work.
Wifi is strong and fast in all areas in the building.
A cute chubby corgi to pamper too haha! Mr Thung & lady Nga (hope i get the names correctly) speaks good english. Worry not on communications while there. Hurl your requests at Mr Tung, he's more than happy to assist any way he could.
If im in Hanoi, i'll definitely stay here again. Thanks again for the comfy stay here. *most items are functional during my stay. Just aged in 4 season country. As long still can use, why must the host changed everything because they looks old? Family vibe remember?! *dear backpackers, please wash utensils used in kitchen when done. There is no maid to service your dirty pots & used cups okay. Be mindful that other travellers need to...

Read moreThe worst hostel I’ve ever stayed at. The host is like a robber, trying to take every penny from you.
Overcharging and hidden fees. As some reviewers mentioned, the host just wants to extract as much money as possible. Everything has a price, including the locker (25K), shower gel (5K), towel, parking, and luggage storage. On the last day of my stay, I checked out at 8 a.m., and she told me it would cost 5K if I left my luggage after 12 p.m. However, when I came back to get my backpack, she charged me 50K! U can leave ur luggage in the old quarters and just 30K!
I don’t understand why there are some reviews saying you can use the kitchen. (Maybe they treat people differently?) The host told me the kitchen is only for private use, and you even need to buy water to use the kettle. Don’t ask me how I know this.
As for the location, I chose this hostel because there were many reviews claiming it was in a good location. But NO! It’s so far from the attractions. If you don’t want to spend an hour traveling to the Old Quarter, don’t stay here.
Regarding cleanliness, I can say the bathroom is not very clean, which is inconsistent with the reviews I read before booking.
Now, I can’t help but wonder how they got such high...
