A very disappointing experience after reading the glowing reviews. Being a strict vegetarian with an intolerance to mushrooms and having read the good reviews of best veggie food in Hanoi, I booked a table online well in advance. Responses were quick and efficient via email and they took on board my dietary requirements assuring me that there were plenty of mushroom free dishes. Looked like a positive start. On arrival, Entrance to the restaurant is pretty theatrical and was void of any diners when we got there. We got shown to our table on the 3rd floor and got given a drinks menu all in Vietnamese language which eventually got replaced by an English version. We enquired if beers were available and were informed they only had zero alcohol beers. We then asked for a glass of red wine which was on the drinks menu only to be told that they only served by the bottle and not glass. Pointed out that on the menu it said we could order by the glass, we were told the menu was 4 years old hence the information wasn’t current !!! We settled for a glass of water. The waitress left us the food menu and though she appeared to have known of our mushroom intolerance, she had no inclination to guide us through the menu which seemed to have a lot of information of the health benefits of each dish (a theatrical description). we selected fresh vegetable spring rolls to start with only to be told they did not have that particular type available that day, instead they had another type which didn’t appeal to us. By this time frustration was beginning to set in and we decided we’d had enough of the place and decided to leave and instead stumbled upon an Italian restaurant not far away with a much more warm ambience and flexible menu choices. A blessing in disguise is how I see it at not having to endure a theatrical ambience and having to eat something...
