There’s a billion coffee shops in Hoi An. In fact almost every establishment masquerades as a coffee shop in the morning. But there is something about picking your spot and digging. I walk through the door and the owner asks “the usual?” And I proceed to my spot in the cozy corner of this beach-inspired spot connected to the owners home. It’s common to see her family about sometimes interacting with the customers and other times just living their lives. When I’m here, the same three guys sit to the right of me [probably for hours] catching up. They can’t see me because we’re separated by fauna but they know I’m here and they probably have a good laugh at my overt giddiness. When I discovered Larva Coffee, it was music to my tastebuds, as the quality, taste, and consistency of the coffee was on song.
From unique local delights like the salted coffee, to the egg creme coffee, through to my favourite cappuccino, the lovely barista Uyen (Juli) always put a smile on my face.
Not only was the coffee fantastic every time, but the setting is quaint, relaxing, and homely — it just makes you want to come back again, and again.
