edit: 2024 update - At first I felt bad for them so I didn't want to say this but later on, I realized I spent 350k on probably the worst indian food restaurant meal I've ever had in my entire life and it really pissed me off. First of all, there are a lot of obvious lies from competitors reviewing this restaurant 1 star. This is not it. I don't know what they've done to the recipe now but it tastes about as good as I can make it at home following youtube recipes, namely, it sucks. Youtubers either don't know or are lying about the recipe and I could never make it taste as good as the restaurant. So when I had this place in 2021, it tasted amazing but now it tastes terrible. I suspect they're gonna go out of business soon if they keep this up.
I have never once in my entire life had jeera rice that had fried onions in it. This made the rice too moist and oily. This is not to mention the fact that fried onions corrupt the taste of jeera rice. That's not how it's supposed to taste. If you don't believe me, google a picture of jeera rice and then look at a picture of it that someone posted here. Fried onions. It's hard to believe right? I mean who the f made this?
The naan was flat and too chewy. It tasted almost exactly like how they taught me to make it on youtube. Did this chef learn from youtube? I suspect they also must've used a pan too and not a tandoori oven due to the consistency of the naan. I could never get it to be like a restaurant naan because of the pan.
Same situation with the butter chicken. If any of you have ever tried following youtube recipes for butter chicken, you'll eat it and just know it's off somehow like there's secret ingredients that are missing. That's how this butter chicken tasted like. Whole experience pissed me off so bad. What a waste of money.
I see indian names here rating this place 5 stars recently and the guy literally posted a picture of jeera rice with fried onions in it. That has to be a paid shill post. Give me a break. NOTE: I borrowed the jeera rice pic from reviewer viral pujara.
reviewed 2021 - I've had butter chicken and naan at 4 indian places in hcm, this place is the best and is among the best I've had in vietnam and in USA too. Owner was earnest and polite. I know this review kinda sucked but it really is one of the best places I've had so I had to review it. Also weirdly enough, butter chicken in vietnam tastes just like chicken tikka masala in america. Any other americans think so? Meanwhile chicken tikka masala taste like...

Read moreBaba’s Kitchen has been in Saigon for 14 years. My friend - who has tried many, many Indian restaurants - absolutely raves about this one. It was my first time eating at an Indian restaurant.
From when you drive up (or walk up) to the restaurant - but you’re still outside - one of the very friendly staff has come out to greet you and help you park your motorbike.
They have a free appetizer of papadum with four condiments: pickled onions, tamarind sauce, mint sauce, and something very spicy, but delicious.
They have an great variety of Indian dishes, naan, roti, and drinks.
Spice levels are mild, medium, and spicy. I ordered falaak paneer and it was very mild; quite suitable for someone who prefers almost no spice heat. My friend had the mixed vegetable curry, which was definitely spicy, but not overly much - and it was delicious. We ordered both roti and the garlic naan - really lovely garlic flavor, soft and warm.
They gave us a refill on the free appetizer condiments and also complementary warm rice pudding, which was so delicious.
The staff are very attentive, constantly refilling our water glasses, and friendly.
They have indoor and outdoor seating, and there is more seating upstairs.
It’s...
