Second update 2024: Coffee was excellent as always. The baristas are very knowledgeable but the wait staff could do with some education particularly about the specialty coffees on offer.

Update 2024: I'm updating my review 1 year later. I've upgraded my coffee score from 4 to 5, my service score also from 4 to 5 and my overall review score from 4 to 5.

I come here everytime I visit vietnam because I always stay in the Saigon Pearl district. Barring exceptionally rare off days, the coffee never disappoints and neither does the service.

I'm glad to see my original comments about the coffee and service have been taken on board and much improved. The coffee shot/ extraction consistency is a 10/10 and the effort that has gone into that area shows.

If I would give some constructive feedback it would be that the online ordering system doesn't showcase their specialty single origins (you only get to choose vietnam/ Ethiopia with no further descriptions). The fact is at any time they might have multiple vietnamese or Ethiopian coffees on the menu and this doesn't let you choose what you want. Take a tip from me, skip the online ordering system and head into the bar to see the paper menu so you can "dial in" your coffee choice properly.

The food rating is for the coffee, we didn't try any of the food options.

The coffee tends to cater to both western and Vietnamese tastes. They have options of lighter roasts (think medium and not super light like we have in the west) and darker fully developed Vietnamese roasts. My v60 was excellent as was my partners juice. Unfortunately, my espresso was underextracted - sour with no balance. I would have taken more stars off for this but the staff took my feedback in their stride and acknowledged the issue.

The service was mostly great however I deducted one star because my v60 came out first before my espresso (for a drink which takes 3 times as long) and I didn't get my espresso until around 10 minutes later after I had already finished my v60. I had terrible service today. More than 20min wait for 1 espresso even though not full. Staff who served me was frazzled and confused. Disappointed as I spend a lot here.

A few hours after posting I got a reply with an apology and acknowledgment of the service shortfall. I have therefore edit my review and increased service level to 3 stars and added 4 stars each for food (by which I mean coffee quality) and 4 stars for the atmosphere.

I drink their Fumee blend every day at home and for me its one of the best in the market. I dont think I will come back to this location often - but rather Nguyen Sieu location (and that too in the evening so its less busy ) so I dont get stressed by...
