We discovered this place in alley behind the Tresor and Saigon Royal by getting a Tra Tac which is Calimondin or Kumquat iced tea. Their tea is very good, very sweet and only 10,000 vnd which is half what you pay a lot of places.
We went back for the Bun Bo Hue and loved it. We've had the soup over seas, around Saigon and in Hue and this is my favorite by far. We were the only foreigners there, it's a Viet lunch crowd, so not made for foreign taste, but this is very much a soup foreigners will like.
They asked if we wanted pig knuckle which is often served in the soup and we declined. The soup also did not have the congealed pigs blood typically served in this soup, Bun Rieu and some others. We eat that but might be scarry to some foreigners and not a problem here.
The noodles are traditional thicker noodles than pho and the meat was all very good. It's a filling soup and comes with Iced Tea you can drink, or order a flavored tea. We drank the iced tea for meal and fruit tea to go as we water it down at home since all viet fruit teas are really sweet, especially if you drink quickly before the ice mets.
Definitely recommend this place. Only issue my 13 year old daughter has is that it's not open for dinner and she wants it at night as well.
Limited English spoken but you can figure it out with Google translate or a calculator for numbers.
Soup and iced tea was 40,000vnd per person. We paid 50,000 each since we had the Tra Tac to go, so $2 USD per person for a really good, filling lunch around corner from many rental apartments.
No AC but fans and good ventilation. Gets busy right at 12 for lunch rush but were always 1-2 tables open as people...
Read moreOriginally mistakenly stumbled on this place in a small alleyway thinking it was another bun Bo hue place. When we came inside it was empty so we chilled out and order a bowl to try. To our surprise the soup was quite tasty and very nice. They gave free ice tea and we chilled there for a bit longer and by the time it hit 11:30am, the place became packed with locals! Definitely a hidden local gem of a place. On top of that, the dish...
