Chico’s Pizza Bar — Restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City

I was really looking forward to this pizza. I had seen some of the photos online and had really high expectations. Sadly the experience was rather disappointing. I messaged them on instagram to place an order for a waffle and a pizza. I was told that they do not serve the waffles during the week and that they do not deliver the waffles either. I found this a bit ridiculous - why have it on the menu if you only serve it on the weekends! Apparently they only serve the waffle on Saturdays and Sundays between 10am and 3pm. Nonetheless I then ordered the pizza. One margherita with extra chorizo and olives. I literally got 5 sliced olives on my pizza and when I questioned them about this, I was told that the chef confirmed that they gave me the correct portion for the pizza. I was baffled. Never have I ordered a pizza that I have paid extra for a topping and received such slim pickings. The pizza was ok, crust was delicious but the actual base...you need a fork and knife to eat it or the toppings will slide off. I love eating pizza with my hands, but its one of those pizzas where the minute you pick it up the front bit hangs over, Almost soggy. The pizza is expensive (230K) and I guess i just had really high expectations. I dont mind paying for quality but this was disappointing. Especially when you complaint and then receive the responses I did. Followed by them wanting to reimburse me for the extra olives I paid and did not receive. If you going to charge someone extra for a topping, be a bit more generous and ensure that the customer is getting what...

New spot in a residential area. Was called in by Chico (Khang) to check it out and so I changed my plans and went out of my way to do so.

Partner smokes brisket - some gets portioned for the pizzas and calzones. Dough is proofed and fired in a traditional way so the result is decent.

It’s a bit hot to eat outside on a picnic table but fine. It is what it is. Pricing for a local joint is pushing it compared to what Vietnam pricing should be. Croquettes 95k. Calzone 230k. Bottled tipple. Reasonable. Might be to account for the “localness” of the place and the lack of turnover.

I do note that the previous business in this location failed miserably so perhaps pricing is required for survival.

Service was prompt. Food was decent. Worth going to if you live adjacent.

The dessert was also worth a mention. It’s enough to keep the locals entertained.

Solid 4 stars.

Would I come back? Tough call. I don’t live in the area, there’s nothing groundbreaking or monumental here. So I’ll say pass unless something really...

Địa điểm và không gian:

Nằm trên con đường Nguyễn Văn Hưởng quẹo vô 1 con hẻm nhỏ yên tĩnh. Quán có không gian xanh mát trong lành rộng rãi. Có chỗ ngồi bên trong với máy điều hòa và không gian ngoài trời nhiều cây xanh mát mẻ.

Món ăn:

Hôm bọn mình lại có gọi 3 món Signature của quán.

*Món đầu tiên là Mỳ Carbonara. Món này ở đây làm chuẩn vị Ý. Nấu hoàn toàn bằng Phomai Percorino Romano không dùng kem tươi. Lúc mới ăn miếng đầu tiên mình hơi sốc nhẹ vì độ mặn và béo cực của phomai nhưng dần dần ăn các miếng tiếp theo sẽ ghiện. Mỳ quện với phomai chảy ăn kèm với má heo chiên giòn cũng mặn rất đậm đà uống kèm Bia IPA "Đê mê" vị quất là đúng bài luôn.

Món thứ 2 là món Brisket Calzone

Bánh Calzone này thì cũng không quá xa lạ nhưng ở đây mình thấy bột bánh của quán làm rất ngon,không quá dày ăn giòn tan,cắn nghe rộp rộp. Nhân bánh với Thịt gầu bò xông khói 12 tiếng kiểu Mỹ với sốt tứ xuyên cay nhẹ và phomai Provolone,cải lên men Sauerkraut và ớt Japapeno. Mình thấy thịt nướng củi rất thơm mùi xông khói. Quán dùng củi cây Nhãn để nướng thịt nên có thể vì vậy mà vị khói rất thơm đặc trưng. Bánh này ăn chấm với sauce BBQ và uống với Bia IPA đúng là tuyệt vời.

Món thứ 3 là mỳ cọng lớn Pappardelle được cán bằng tay và được cắt bằng tay với thịt Ragu cừu xông khói . 1 ngày quán làm những phần mỳ này với số lượng có hạn. Lúc mình đến được may mắn xem Bếp cán mỳ và cắt mỳ bằng tay. Bếp làm thấy cũng cực nhưng chất lượng sợi mỳ mềm xốp cực kỳ xứng đáng. Món này quán làm đúng ngon tuy nhiên đợi làm hơi lâu. Nêm nếm vừa miệng.

Về đồ uống ngoài Bia rất ngon thì cafe của quán cũng rất đáng uống. Quán có nhiều loại cafe được rang thủ công với số lượng nhỏ để giữ nguyên hương vị từ vùng đất ấy. Quán có nhiều loại cafe hay ho như Brazil 🇧🇷 Arabica Cerrado,Colombia 🇨🇴Decaf,Ethiopia 🇪🇹Yirgacheffe và Vietnam 🇻🇳Daklak Robusta. Có lẽ mình sẽ quay lại quán 1 dịp khác để thử riêng các loại cafe này.

Khẩu phần của quán khá to. Giá cả cũng ko quá đắt. Giá của quán là net luôn nên không lo ++ thêm gì cả.

Phục vụ theo kiểu casual nhanh nhẹ thân thiện.

Nhìn chung đây là 1 quán lowkey yên tĩnh xanh mát đồ ăn ngon bia ngon đáng để ghé chill chill. Khách ở đây mình thấy khách Tây nhiều hơn khách VN.
