If you’re craving authentic Indian cuisine in Ho Chi Minh City, Jalsa is the place to be. From the moment you step into the restaurant, you’re greeted with warm, vibrant decor that perfectly complements the rich flavors of Indian spices. The ambiance strikes a fine balance between traditional Indian charm and modern sophistication.
The menu is a culinary journey through India, offering a wide variety of dishes to suit every palate. Whether you’re in the mood for creamy butter chicken, smoky tandoori delights, or perfectly spiced biryanis, Jalsa does not disappoint. Their naan and curries pair flawlessly, and the desserts, especially the gulab jamun, are heavenly.
But what truly elevates the dining experience at Jalsa is the exceptional service. Our waiter, Afjal, went above and beyond to ensure our visit was perfect. He was attentive, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. His recommendations were spot-on, and his warm demeanor added a personal touch that made us feel like valued guests.
In a city filled with diverse dining options, Jalsa stands out for its authentic flavors and outstanding service. A special shoutout to Afjal for making our experience truly memorable. Highly...
Read moreWhile the food had its moments, the experience was marred by service and hygiene standards that really fell short. We had to switch tables not once, but twice because of unclean conditions underneath—definitely a surprise!
The masala papadum was a bit of a letdown, too. It was on the smaller side and overwhelmed by an excessive amount of chili, missing that delicate balance we were hoping to savor. The samosa, unfortunately, was greasy and lacked the necessary salt in the filling, making it rather bland. However, there was a silver lining: the chicken curry and dal were quite satisfying! And let's not forget the naan bread—it was simply fantastic!
As for the pina colada mocktail, it definitely missed the mark; it tasted more like buttermilk than the tropical treat we were expecting.
To top it off, the staff seemed to be caught in a whirlwind of chaos, almost like headless chickens! There was a noticeable lack of direction and leadership, which detracted from the overall experience. With a few adjustments, this place has the potential to elevate the dining experience...
Read moreA visiting friend was craving Indian food, and based on the reviews, we decided to try Jalsa.
The service was a standout - friendly, attentive and genuinely warm. The restaurant itself is modern & spacious, creating a welcoming atmosphere.
Unfortunately, the food was a bit hit and miss.
We started with the pani puri, which had a tasty spiced water, but the potato filling was so small that you could hardly taste it! The fish tikka entrée was tender but lacked seasoning. For mains, the chicken tikka masala was rich and full of flavour, while the spinach paneer was disappointingly bland and under seasoned. The naan, however, was fresh and delicious.
For dessert, we tried the gulab jamun and semolina halwa. The halwa was unfortunately tasteless, while the gulab jamun was just okay.
The restaurant was absolutely packed while we were there, including two large tour groups, so perhaps the kitchen was under pressure, which might explain the inconsistency in the food.
Would I return? Perhaps. The food didn’t wow us, but the service staff left a...
