This hostel was not very social-there were no places to socialize with other travelers or relax after the long walking day and eat/drink/work except for your bed or the reception(it is quite hot there, but they regularly had some small complimentary snacks there). The rooftop ´kitchen ´ was not working because of Tet holiday(New Year ´s) and even after it,it even got locked. I had to change rooms because 302b on the top fooor was just too hot(air con was on,but it was weak), 202b on the second floor was better and less noisy(The 1st floor ´s 102 looked even cooler, but it was fully booked at that time.).Be ready for no window in the room, so the air is quite artificial there. There were big lockers to lock your belongings in. You get a key and fresh towel(you can change it for a new one any time) for a deposit 200 000dong. Internet worked great. Cleaness of the room and bed was okay, they were cleaning them up regularly. Bathrooms had soap, shampoo, shower gel and toilet paper. They were quite clean too(I mean, there was some mold covered in white paint, but it is sadly typical for weather like this). Hostel staff was very friendly.I arrived at around 2-3am and they even let me ´sleep ´for free until 12(the check in is at 14:00) in a bed somebody had checked out before. I could leave my bags at the reception after check out the whole day before my night bus, they even let me take a shower(and gave me a towel for it). I got some recommendation about other places to visit in Viet Nam from them, too. So,overall my stay here was okay, the hostel is in a good location, it was fairly clean and safe, a bed was spacious and comfortable, but the air quality and sometimes temperature was not satisfactory for me and it was lacking the...
Read moreEdit: Some teacups and hangers were delivered shortly after this review was posted, as well as an apology. The agent said she misunderstood and thought I was one of the dorm guests, and not a private room guest (I’m assuming dorm guests don’t have closets and therefore do not need hangers). She also said I could move to a quieter room tomorrow, but that the room would not be comparable in size.
Complete switcharoo when I checked in. Was told my originally booked room wasn’t available, but that there was one above the restaurant.
What no one fails to mention online is that this “restaurant” is mainly a drinking establishment. You have to go through the restaurant and up the stairs to get to some of the rooms.
Unfortunately for me, my room was located in this section and what was described as a restaurant while checking in is actually more of a bar where tables cheer each other on to drink.
The closet has no hangers. There is a kettle but no cups. When I went downstairs to ask, I was promptly shot down. The girl could not give any less Fs. The least she could’ve done was ask the restaurant if they had any paper cups or something. Instead, it was one NO after another.
The noise I can drown out somewhat with ear plugs, but the attitude should be left at the door when you’re in the hospitality industry.
The sound wouldn’t be so bad in the room if the door sealed all the way, but the gap in the door lets through a lot of noise. As someone mentioned previously, they need better doors here for the rooms.
Lugging a 50lb suitcase up the narrow staircase wasn’t fun either, so do NOT book if you need an elevator. I wish this was also disclosed...
Read moreI honestly don't understand the good rating of the hostel at all.
Arrived at the airport, we waited about 1h for the transfer booked by the hostel. This never arrived, on our WhatsApp messages to the manager we have not yet received a response. Arrived at the hostel, of course, no one knew anything. Right at the beginning we were told that our room is very noisy, because directly below is a restaurant, which is open until 2/3 in the morning. The room had only a glass door through which you heard EVERYTHING from the dingy restaurant. There was loud music playing until 2/3am and the restaurant toilets were right outside our door. So we were separated only by a frosted glass door. Very uncomfortable feeling. One towel had brown stains, but we just didn't use it, just the other clean one. After 2 nights we wanted to check out. All of a sudden we were told that the one towel was dirty (makeup stains) and we should pay $5 (!!!) to have it cleaned. For comparison: 1 kilo Laundry costs the equivalent of about 1 dollar. In the end, we washed the stains out ourselves with hot water and phoned the manager to make it clear that we will not pay $5 for this. The lady at the front desk also mimicked us. I guess they knew that our rating would be bad. When I went to write this on Hostelworld, I saw that our booking was cancelled (which is not true, we were there and paid)!
All in all, the stay was a bottomless impertinence. We would like to warn others about this, as we are now also not surprised about the good reviews, when guests with whom there were problems, the booking is...
