I’d seen Soko on Grab delivery a few times, and their croissants always caught my eye.
Today I happened to be in the area, craving a proper croissant, and Google pointed me straight to Soko. It didn’t take long to make it happen.
The space itself is small and narrow, spread across two or three floors, which is fine. What threw me off was the background music — a full-on Christmas playlist in September. If I’m not mistaken, the café opened not too long ago, but the interior already looks rough. Dirty walls and windows (including those with street-view seats), peeling paint, and overall poor maintenance. With their overpriced menu, it’s a mystery why they can’t at least keep the place neat.
The vibe shifted once I went upstairs and sat down. The waitress was technically polite, but it felt forced, like she didn’t want to be there. When I left, no one acknowledged me. I don’t need a goodbye, but usually that small gesture is part of the experience — and its absence made things feel a bit awkward.
Now, the croissant — zero complaints. Huge, beautifully decorated, packed with filling. A solid 10/10 that fully met my expectations.
The drinks menu is quite large, with some signature options. I wanted to try the Charcoal Choco Latte, but it wasn’t available. The way the waitress asked me to change my order felt off, though I don’t remember her exact words. I ended up with an overpriced Americano that was disappointingly small for the price and tasted below average.
The last letdown was the final check. Nowhere on the menu did it say tax wasn’t included in the listed prices. I understand tax is standard, but it’s better to make that clear upfront to avoid that sour aftertaste at the end...
