Located right in the city center with easy accessibility to key major landmarks around the area, the hotel has a good and strategic location, and guests can move around easily by foot.||This is our 10th trip to HCMC and the 6th hotel we have stayed in the past 9 years. And this trip we decided to stay here.||There are some "ups and downs" of this hotel but surely it is not 4-star level.||First, the room is rather aged and small (even smaller than those 3-star hotels we have stayed) and the sound barring wall is very poor. We can easily hear what people staying at the next door and also those guests who walk past us. It was loud and every night there were endless noises (on some nights there were also people knocking at our door, maybe drunk guests). And even the air-conditioner had sounds too with dripping water at times (this also happened at the restaurant on the 11th floor)||Our room on the 3rd floor is facing at the back of the building and so no view but it's ok at least better than those without windows.||The beds were comfortable though and the TV has quite a good spread of channels ranging from CCTV to Phoneix to NHK, KBS etc.||The toilet is ok, with a bathtub but water were not that "hot" despite turning on to the biggest.||Room service was well done, used items were replenished like toiletries and bottles of mineral water and cleaned well. Credit must be given to the room service team.||The restaurant was located on the 11th floor (with only one of the 2 lifts accessible to it). The view here was stunning though and the spread was quite extensive but throughout our stay here, the menu remained the same. And so by the 3rd day, you would not feel so "thrilled" at the same food. The foods were generally nice but the chef who manned the live cooking station ought to be more friendly as his attitude was unfriendly. When you talked to him, he did not look at you and raised his voice asking what you want. And his face was stern looking always, almost everyday as if we diners owe him something or he was in his bad mood. Other staff were ok, polite and helpful in serving us the food.||The concierge team was generally friendly and helpful but not so with the staff manning the bar. As the bar was under reno and so they have setup a temporary booth outside the hotel. When we requested for some iced cubes, the staff was unfriendly but she didn't charge us on the first night and just wanted us to "prove" we were guests of the hotel which we showed our room card. However, on the second night, we were told we needed to pay 15,000 don for the ice (per cup). So we went up to the reception counter to inquire thinking that they would help us and have it for free. Guess what? They told us usually they would charge 20,000 don for the ice and already given us "discounts". And when we asked how come we were not told (and charged on the first night), they couldn't give a reason and just smiled. Well, I do know some hotels charged for cups or ice and that's fine. But there should not be any inconsistency (on policies or payments) just within a day. Maybe it's for their "extra income".||In my group of 6, most shared the same sentiments like I do, and in fact they preferred the hotel we stayed last year that was just a good 5-min walk away from here, that was a 3-star (with bigger and better rooms, much highly motivated customer service) though cost more than this one. Right here, their rooms either had dripping water from the aircon (or cracky sound from the aircon) or were not barred from the noise from the walkway or rooms next door. (They were staying on the 5th floor).||So if this hotel is 3-star rating, we would accept it. But being categorized as a 4-star, it's natural that guests have higher but realistic expectations. And we had also stayed in 4-star hotel in HCMC before, and they were generally good deserving that accolade. It is surely not 4-star in our opinion.||In our next revisiting trip to HCMC that will take place in a few months' time (or a year from now), we will source for...

Read morei stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. when you first enter the hotel, to the left, there is a bar area where you can drink alcohol. to the right is a gathering area, and to the extreme right, is a small shop selling fashion bags. to the front is a meeting room, and toilets. upstairs, there is a garden, more toilets, and more meeting rooms. the meeting rooms generally have audio capabilities.
the three lifts generally work fine. however, one of them is smaller than usual, allowing only one person to move in and out of the lift at any one time.
in your room, you will have a bed, tables with drawers, some packets of coffee and tea, a wardrobe, a mini-bar and a television. the bed is moderately comfortable, but i noticed lots of dust underneath the bed. there is a telephone beside the bed, capable of calling other rooms, room service and the concierge. the soundproofing is non-existent. the window does not provide a view of outside, it is merely a view of a man-made tunnel behind your room.
the bathroom is quite small. there is a toilet bowl, a sink, a hairdryer, a bathtub with a shower head on top of it and some racks with hotel towels on it. the bathtub is generally clean, with some occasional stains. there are instructions on how to place the towels on the bathtub to signal to the staff on what actions should be taken for the towel. the bathroom is generally okay, and there are free dental kits. however, the mirror fogs really easily after a shower.
the service is generally okay. the staff are quite polite and helpful. at the restaurant, it is a self-service buffet. you show your room card to enter. to the left are the drinks, desserts, and breakfast (bread, cornflakes, etc.) sections. to the right are the self-service buffet and staff-manned cooked food sections. the buffet available consists of generally the same things, like bacon, pork, fried rice and sausages.
you can order the set of the day and other things like omelettes at the staff-manned cooked food section. it is not a self-service section. the set of the day usually includes banh mi, which in my opinion, is quite nice. you can enjoy a top view of the surrounding area from...
